The Progress and Poverty Institute board and staff spent the weekend together at the Princeton University Art Museum for strategic planning, generating new ideas, engaging in thoughtful conversations, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

Interest in land value taxation and Georgist economics is reaching new heights, and we are energized by the opportunities ahead. This dedicated group is ready to meet the moment and help advance these important ideas.

We're excited about what comes next. Stay tuned for our new strategic plan, which we'll be sharing in the coming months.

Progress and Poverty Institute Director of Strategy and Impact Russell Richie has written a guest column in The Philadelphia Citizen. Russell argues that Philadelphia should opt for a percentage-based tax on ride-hailing, over the mayor's proposed flat fee on ride-hails. One big reason why: a percentage-based tax scales with surge pricing, and therefore implicitly taxes congestion.

And as Dave Wetzel, former vice chair of Transport for London, put it: A congestion tax is a “land tax on wheels.”
