Author Fest is This Saturday!
Join us for Author Fest this weekend! Come out to meet talented authors, discover your next great read, and enjoy a wonderful community event.

Date: This Saturday

Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Fletcher Warren Civic Center

We will have fantastic authors spanning various genres, meeting rooms dedicated to children's and Christian authors, and local food trucks on-site (Tom’s Traveling Coffee, Kona Ice, Bakery Bros (Cookies), and Perkins).

We can't wait to see you there!

Book lovers, mark your calendar!

We are so excited for , which will occur in just two short weeks on Saturday, August 15th from 10:00 am-4:00 pm at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center. The library will be closed all day that day, but you can join us at the civic center to meet over 75 authors, hear about their work, buy new books, and get your copy signed! Plus, entry is free to this event, and we will have on site. We hope to see you there!

Booklovers, here's a Book Crawl that lasts the whole month of August in North Texas!

The 2nd Annual North Texas Indie Bookstore Crawl is almost here! 31 bookstores have teamed up to bring you the crawl of the year, making it the largest regional book crawl in the Lone Star State!

And it will last the entire month of August! Grab a passport, support local, and have fun! You can go back more than once during the month.

Pick up a passport from any participating Indie Bookstores or print it off from their website! Check the squares for store promotions. Remember that stores hours vary per location.

No purchase required to receive a stamp!

Don’t forget to return your stamped passport via the QR code on the passport by 11:59pm on 8/31 to be entered into a raffle featuring gift cards and prizes donated by participating bookstores, with each bookstore visited earning an additional raffle entry!

The Bookstore Crawl encourages readers to discover the unique character, communities, and literary voices that each store brings to the region. With 31 bookstores (33 locations in total), we hope you visit some of your favorites and discover new ones along the way!

Kids can earn free tickets and meal for reading books this Summer!!

Did you know that Kids can get two free tickets to the Frisco RoughRiders baseball games this summer!?

No strings attached / no purchase necessary.

If you use the following link to print out the reading log and have your kiddos read and record three books, you can get two free tickets per child plus a free Cane’s kids meal.

They also offer all sorts of specials, discounts, and have fireworks after some of their shows!

Here are several reputable websites where you can download free books legally (not pirated):

1. Project Gutenberg
• Website: www.gutenberg.org
• Offers over 70,000 free eBooks, mostly classics and public domain works.
• Formats: ePub, Kindle, plain text, and HTML.

2. LibriVox (audiobooks)
• Website: www.librivox.org
• Free public domain audiobooks, read by volunteers. Often corresponds with Project Gutenberg texts.

3. Internet Archive
• Website: archive.org
• Millions of free books (public domain and out-of-print), plus books you can “borrow” with a free account.

4. Google Books
• Website: books.google.com
• Many public domain books are available for free full download, especially older texts.

5. ManyBooks
• Website: www.manybooks.net
• Large library of free and discounted eBooks, including public domain and indie authors.

6. Smashwords
• Website: www.smashwords.com
• Indie authors publish here. Look under the “Free” filter to find legally free titles.

7. BookBub
• Website: www.bookbub.com
• Curates free and discounted eBooks (mostly through Amazon, Apple, etc.)—you need to create a free account and set preferences.
