The Princeton Police Department would like to recognize our Animal Control Officer Amanda Engelbrecht and all of the telecommunicators at BueComm for their service to our community.

This is both Animal Control Officer appreciation week and Public Safety Telecommunicator appreciation week. While we appreciate what they do the other 51 weeks of the year, we want to especially thank them today as their hard work is celebrated nationally this week.

We are grateful to have Amanda on our team here at the Princeton Police Department. Not only is Amanda an awesome Animal Control Officer, she addresses ordinance complaints throughout the community. She also helps our three K9 officers with the care, maintenance and training of their K9 partners. She truly cares about all animals and their well being, often coming in during her off hours to address animal issues. Amanda, we greatly appreciate your dedication to your work and thank you for all you do for us!

The Telecommunicators at BueComm are the first line of public safety for police, fire and medical emergencies. They handle stressful calls that come in through the 911 lines and are expected to make split-second decisions as they dispatch the call to first responders in the field. Often times when someone calls 911, they are experiencing one of the worst days of their life and are in crisis. The Telecommunicators work to deescalate the caller while gathering much needed information to relay to us as we respond to the call. They are also trained to give lifesaving instructions over the phone if a caller is reporting an in-progress medical emergency. In addition to all of this, they monitor our status as we are on these calls and make sure we are safe. It's a challenging job and is definitely not for everyone. We are grateful to have the team at BueComm alongside us as we protect our community.

Due to ongoing construction, the handicap-accessible entrance at City Hall is temporarily closed to the public until further notice.
An alternate accessible entrance is available at the rear of the building, located by the Fire Department Bay doors. For your convenience, two handicap parking spaces have been designated in the back parking lot.
Please ring the doorbell at the rear entrance, and a staff member will assist you into the building.

Hi everyone I’m Balto! I am currently a 9 month old Kuvasz and still growing. I am a therapy dog that works for the Princeton Police Department. Right now I’m still learning what a therapy dog does but I’m learning quick! I go to 1 of the 4 schools at Princeton Elementary School District 115 everyday where I get to hang out with all the students. City of Princeton Police Department – Establishing a hiring list for Police Patrol Officer

Applications due by deadline: Friday March 20, 2026 at 12:00 Noon

Examination and Testing: Written examination and orientation will be conducted on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Princeton Police Department 605 Elm Place, Princeton, Illinois (use front door) at 9:00 A.M. The written examination will be conducted upon completion of the orientation session. You must present a valid Illinois POWER test card on the day of testing.

Must be 21 years of age at time of hire, and must not be more than 35 years of age without exemption at time of application.

Applications available at the Princeton Police Department 605 Elm Place, Princeton, Illinois 61356, M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from February 11, 2026 through March 19, 2026.
