BCEMA has been exceedingly busy over the last 3 days! We staffed an EOC two days in a row to monitor mid-week severe weather impacts, and today we assisted our partners from Marshall and Woodford County EMA's with damage assessment following last night's tornadoes. We issued three tornado warnings and two severe thunderstorm warnings with "tornado possible" tags via our Rave Alert system, watched hours and hours of RADAR, and drank waaaaaaaay more energy drinks than is advisable (don't tell our doctors).

How is all this possible? Only through the dedication and support of our AMAZING team of volunteers - our Field Service Unit. Without them, our program would absolutely not be able to provide the level of service it does to our community and the region. I cannot express how appreciative I am of them and all they do for the Agency. Because of them, not only is Bureau County better prepared to respond, but so are our neighbors.

Special thanks to those who helped with this recent round of severe weather, be it in the EOC on Wednesday and Thursday or today down in Woodford and Marshall counties assisting with damage assessment. You are all awesome.

..Strong Non-Thunderstorm Winds Through 4 PM...

Strong easterly wind gusts not associated with thunderstorms have
developed across part of the Interstate 80 corridor in Illinois
and portions of Bureau and Putnam counties. Spotters reported 55
to 65 MPH winds for 5 minutes in Princeton, Illinois just before 2
PM. These should persist through 3 to 4 PM. Expect temporary
difficult driving conditions for high profile vehicles.
