Sheriff Don Weedman reports:

On June 5, 2026, Deputy Cole Cannon was on routine patrol when he observed a white Chevy Malibu traveling southbound on 293N without a working license plate light. Upon conducting a traffic stop and further investigation, Deputy Cannon charged and arrested Tristian Hayton, 43, of Dawson Springs, Ky., with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of substance, possession of ma*****na and drug paraphernalia. Ms. Hayton was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.

Sheriff Don Weedman reports:

On June 5, 2026, Deputy Mac Englebright was on routine patrol when he observed a vehicle on US 62 West driving without an illuminated taillight. Upon conducting a traffic stop and further investigation, Deputy Englebright charged and arrested Sarah Hall, 30, of Princeton KY., with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and no tail lamps.

Ms. Hall was lodged on the Caldwell County Jail. Deputy Englebright was assisted on scene by Princeton Police Department.

Temporary office walk-in hours from June 8–18
Walk-in service available at all offices 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Timeline of Events:

To transition more than 4 million records into the new system, temporary service changes will occur.

June 3
Online Services Pause
Online driver services will temporarily pause as Kentucky begins the transition to the new system.

June 4–5
Regional Offices Close
All Driver Licensing Regional Offices will be closed while records are moved into the new system.

June 8
KINDL and myDrive Launch
The new system and myDrive portal go live, and Driver Licensing Regional Offices reopen.

June 8–18
Temporary Office Hours
Walk-in services will be available from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at all office locations.

Commercial Driver License (CDL) Updates:

Commercial drivers and permit holders should be aware of the following changes beginning June 8.
* The current MyCDL portal will be discontinued on June 3.
* Beginning June 8, all CDL online services will transition to KYTC's new online services portal, myDrive.
* Medical certificates will now be submitted electronically by approved providers directly to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
* Starting June 8, Commercial Learner’s Permits will be valid for one year and cannot be renewed.
* Current CLP holders who have already renewed once and need to renew again must schedule a skills test with the Kentucky State Police before the permit expires.

No walk-in after 12:00 pm

The Caldwell Co Sheriff’s Office is HIRING!

We have immediate openings for deputies. If you think you'd be a good fit, please come by the sheriff's office for an application.

Requirements (short listed) for applicants:

Sheriff Don Weedman reports:

On May 30, 2026 at 10:09 p.m. , emergency personnel were dispatched to an injury collision at the intersection of Marion Road and Goodsprings Road. Deputy Garrick Lamb is investigating the collision and determined that Charlie Jones, 49, of Fredonia, KY., was operating a 2005 GMC pickup when he pulled directly into the path of Mallory K. Lynn, 21, of Marion, KY., who was driving a 2014 Nissan. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and had airbag deployment. Both were transported to area hospitals. Deputy Lamb cited Mr. Jones for operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Deputy Lamb was assisted by Deputy Cannon, Princeton Fire and Rescue, Fredonia Fire and Rescue, AmeriPro and AirEvac.
