Passamaquoddy Tribal Government- Indian Township The Tribal Government serves as the central point for the Tribal Organizations that provide services to the Passamaquoddy Community.

The Tribal Government, through the Chief (Sakom), Vice Chief (f. Leptanet) and Tribal Council has the authority to establish the police force, a Tribal court, make and amend laws, decide how tribal property can be used, decide who can be a member of the tribe, and ensure that tribal culture and its resources are preserved.

"This month features the Ancestral Canoe Journey from Motahkomikuk to Sipayik that opens the 60th year for the Sipayik Passamaquoddy Days. The Elderly Advocates host a evening Hawaiian Party for our Elders. Indian Township Tribal Government and Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness collaborate on bringing a night of appreciation to the Passamaquoddy Public Safety teams. Maine’s Senator Susan Collins drops by to check in on programs she’s supported. The long-awaited Tree Nursey gets an update. As kids start back to school, ITTG gifts much needed school supplies and assistance for school clothes.

"This month features repairs to the community birchbark canoe by Masqewuloq founder Eric Bacon and Penobscot councilmember Jason Pardilla, who shared photographs and knowledge about canoe building and restoration. The Passamaquoddy Youth Wellness Court hosts an ash pounding demonstration with Passamaquoddy Forester Thomas Newell, passing down traditional wisdom of how to process brown ash for basketry. The Rec building makes a huge transition to the Boys & Girls Club network, opening up substantial resources to the community youth. The Sabattus Family needs our help – please think about donating to their family fund, or at the very least keep them in your thoughts. "
