Today is Memorial Day, the day we remember and honor those brave souls who gave their lives in defense of this great country.

It's important to remember the sacrifices of those that came before us. Whether that sacrifice came on the battlefield, in the coal mine, or on the picket line, it has not been an easy road to get us where we are. Here's to our ancestors and forefathers (and mothers)! Let's try to live up to the promise that they persevered and in some cases, died for.

Yesterday at The Hatter's Bookshop in Princeton, I was honored to meet the one and only Homer Hickam Official Page ! We have a few mutual friends, including Kevin Sizemore, but I had never had the opportunity to meet him.

I told him how proud we all are of him and his success, and we discussed how badly our region needs clean water.

The votes are in and you’re looking at the Democratic Nominee for WV State Senate District 6!

Thank you all so much for your confidence and your support. Thanks also to my opponent Joshua Hamby for Senate District 6. You ran a great campaign and pushed me to be a better candidate. It was great getting to know you and I’m sure we will work together soon.

Special thanks to the poll workers. I know you had a long day yesterday, but you believe in what you do and we are a better country because of folks like you.

And of course extra special thanks to my lovely wife Victoria Santiago Lilly ! It’s no exaggeration to say I couldn’t do it without you, and I wouldn’t even want to.

But this election is definitely not about me. It’s about addressing the needs of our little corner of WV-needs that have been ignored for far too long! Let’s move on together!

Today we celebrate a West Virginia tradition, Mother’s Day! West Virginian Anna Jarvis started this holiday to honor hard working mothers everywhere.

So Happy Mother’s Day to all of you deserving mothers out there but especially to my mother and my lovely wife! I’m not sure where I’d be without you two but I’m glad I don’t have to find out! Much love to you both.
