The AAAA follows the Mercer County schools inclement weather schedule. So if Mercer is on a 2-hr delay, the office will open at 10:30. If Mercer is closed, AAAA and ADRC staff will work from home.

Meet your WV Aging & Disability Resource Center Specialist: Erika Clemons

Erika works at the Princeton, WV, Region IV location. She started this position in May 2025 which makes her the newest member of the crew! But she's not new to care as she was a Medical Assistant.

Erika loves knowing "At the end of my work day, my elderly clients are taken care of. I want my community to know that there is something out there for everyone whether they're young or elderly, there are options for everyone! We live in a giving community!"

In Erika's community, there is something for everyone. From assistance, from willingness from neighbors to lend a hand. The list can go on.

"If I could wave my magic wand, there would be more transportation options for those less fortunate of owning a ride, homes for the homeless for those less fortunate in having a safe place; not everyone is fortunate enough to have these things."

What Is an Area Agency on Aging (AAA)?

Area Agencies on Aging, or AAAs as they are often called, are trusted local organizations dedicated to helping older adults live with independence and dignity in their homes and communities. Established under the Older Americans Act in 1973, AAAs coordinate a wide range of services that support aging well and help family caregivers manage the challenges of caregiving. There are more than 600 AAAs across the United States, each tailored to meet the specific needs of the older adults and families in their communities.

In addition to monitoring Older Americans Act services in our county senior centers, we also house a regional ADRC (Aging & Disability Resource Center), which connects seniors and adults with disabilities with resources in our 13 county service area. We are also a spoke agency for Veteran Directed Care, serving veterans in that program out of the Beckley, WV VA.
