🚲 E-BIKE SAFETY REMINDER 🚲

With warmer weather here, we’re seeing more e-bikes out around Prineville and we want everyone to get home safely.
A few important reminders for riders and parents:
✔️ Wear a helmet
✔️ Obey traffic signs and signals
✔️ Ride with traffic, not against it
✔️ Slow down around pedestrians
✔️ Use lights and reflective gear when riding at night
✔️ Parents: know how fast your child’s e-bike can actually go

E-bikes are not toys. A crash at high speeds can lead to serious injuries in seconds. Please ride responsibly, stay alert, and help keep our roads, sidewalks, and trails safe for everyone. 🚔💙

It’s that time of year again… when Prineville PD enters the Chili Cook-Off full of hope and determination. For reasons still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has taken home the trophy the last two years. 🙃

Come taste, vote, and help us finally break the streak on June 24th after the Cattle Drive! Voting tickets are just $1, and all proceeds benefit Shop With A Cop.

If we lose again, we’ll be opening an official investigation into the judges. 👀

Our local deer are once again reminding everyone that crosswalks, traffic laws, and basic survival instincts are more of a suggestion to them. 🦌

Please slow down and stay alert, especially during early morning and evening hours. Deer can appear quickly and usually bring friends with them.

Remember:
✅ If you see one deer, there are probably more nearby
✅ Slow down in areas with heavy deer activity
✅ Stay off your phone while driving

Drive carefully, Prineville. The deer are doing their best… probably.

Crook County students celebrated their last day of school by giving School Resource Officer Dunn a turn in the dunk tank! 💦

Safe to say the students enjoyed sending him for a swim. Wishing everyone a fun and safe summer break!

🚔 GET TO KNOW SRO DUNN 🚔

School Resource Officer Dunn has been with the Prineville Police Department since 2023. Prior to joining PPD, Officer Dunn served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Elmore County Sheriff's Office.

When he’s not at work, Officer Dunn enjoys spending time with his family and hunting. 🦌 As a School Resource Officer, Officer Dunn encourages parents to stay involved in their children’s online activity and social media use. Mental health impacts, cyberbullying, online predators, exploitation, and harmful content are concerns he sees far too often. A simple conversation and regular check-ins can make a huge difference. Please talk with your kids, stay engaged, and help keep them safe both online and offline. 💙

Thank you for everything you do, Officer Dunn!

Fire season has arrived in Central Oregon, and conditions are already extremely dry.
Please help keep Prineville safe by remembering:
✔️ Do not throw ci******es out of vehicles
✔️ Avoid parking on dry grass
✔️ Follow all burn bans and fire restrictions
✔️ Be cautious with trailers, chains, and equipment that may create sparks

One small spark can quickly turn into a major fire. Let’s all do our part to protect our community, first responders, wildlife, and homes this season.

After many, many requests…like an obscene number of requests… we are proud to announce the official Prineville Police Department calendar. 🗓️

Just kidding. HR would NEVER approve that. But while we have your attention, with temperatures starting to warm up, please remember to:
✅ Stay hydrated
✅ Limit prolonged sun exposure
✅ Keep pets cool and off hot pavement
✅ Never leave children or animals in parked vehicles

Stay safe, Prineville… and yes, Lieutenant Vollmer was going to be Mr. June. 😉
