Save the date on your calendars and help us give our Chief a huge send off!!! Chief Glidden has honorably served PFD for the last 56 years. He started as a Jr Firefighter and rose through the ranks all the way to Chief. A position at which he held for the last 33 years.

More to come about Chief and his retirement over the next month and a half.

SAVE THE DATE: June 30th will be Bob Glidden's last day as chief of the Proctorsville Fire Department. The PVFD is inviting the public to stop by the fire house from 4:30-6:30 pm to honor the incredible contribution Bob has made to our community for the last 56 years. At 6:30 Chief Glidden will get a ride home on E2. Thank you Bob for your generosity and your commitment!

Busy day at the firehouse today. It was the last day of the Rope Rescue Operations course we hosted, and we responded to two brush fires in Chester. We are now also on automatic aid for Weathersfield should a call arise. Weathersfield is currently working two brush fires in Windsor.

The first brush fire today was toned out at 2pm. E1 and 4 firefighters responded. The crew returned to PFD by 3:30pm.

At about 4:10pm we were toned to again respond to Chester for a possible brush fire. Crews arrived to find a tree on the powerlines and a working brush fire. E1 and a crew of 3 again responded to Chester. About 15 minutes later the Ropes class ended and 6 more firefighters responded to Chester with E2 and T1. E1, E2, T1 and crews returned to the firehouse around 6pm.

Weathersfield Fire provided a cover engine during the second brush fire call in Chester.

Part two of Technical Rescue Training for area responders. Last month it was Swift Water Rescue Training,. This month it’s Rope Rescue Operations. This course is also being Instructed by Capital Technical Rescue from Albany NY.

The last couple days have been busy learning and practicing many different skills to keep us and our patients safe while working in a very high risk environment. We have an amazing resource in our back yard known as the Cavendish Gorge. This is where personnel are working with ropes and practicing skills and working through rescue scenarios . Here are a few photos of some of what everyone has been doing.
