Today the Department was toned out at 09:38 for a fluid spill in roadway. Chief of Department arrived on scene with a large oil spill in area of N 11th and Struyk Av. 702 and 703 along with Hawthorne and Haledon Fire Departments to contain the spill. Prospect Park Pd assisted with traffic. Passaic County Hazmat as well as Bd of Health arrived on scene as well. Speedy dry was applied to the spill. Units were back in service at 11:40am.

Smoke from ongoing Canadian wildfires is expected to impact northern New Jersey, including Prospect Park , over the coming days. As air quality conditions change, we encourage everyone to stay informed and take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families. Limit prolonged outdoor activity when air quality is poor, keep windows and doors closed when possible, and pay close attention if you or a loved one has asthma, heart disease, or another respiratory condition. If you experience severe difficulty breathing, another medical emergency,or if you believe the smoke is coming from another source, call 911 immediately. The Dept. will continue to monitor conditions and encourages everyone to stay safe and be prepared.🚨🔥🌲🚒
