OVERNIGHT STRUCTURE FIRE

During the overnight hours, the Prospect Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at a single family home in town.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered an active fire inside the residence. All occupants had safely evacuated the home prior to our arrival, and no injuries were reported.

Our mutual aid protocol was activated, bringing additional personnel and resources from the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, Naugatuck Fire Department, Cheshire Fire Department, and Beacon Hose Co. No. 1

Crews made an aggressive attack and were able to quickly knock down the fire, preventing further spread throughout the home.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners for their continued assistance and teamwork.

At 2:23 AM this morning, the Prospect Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire.

Car 5 arrived on scene first and reported a two story wood frame residence with heavy fire showing from the A side of the building. Car 1 arrived moments later and established Incident Command. Car 5 assumed Operations, while Car 3 coordinated Water Supply.

Firefighters initiated an interior attack in an effort to save the structure. However, due to the volume of fire and a partial roof collapse, conditions rapidly deteriorated and operations transitioned to a defensive exterior attack.

Because this area of town does not have fire hydrants, a rural water supply operation was established, with Bethany Car 1 coordinating water shuttle operations. This operation ensured a continuous water supply throughout the incident.

We would like to extend our thanks to our mutual aid partners for their assistance:
Cheshire Fire Department
Bethany Volunteer Fire Department
Naugatuck Fire Department
Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department
Beacon Hose Co. No. 1

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Prospect Fire Marshal’s Office

Congratulations to Our New Firefighter Graduates!

The Prospect Fire Department is proud to recognize several members who recently completed their state firefighter certification programs.

Pictured left to right are: Assistant Chief Sloss, EMT Clark, Lt. Morra, FF Untiet, FF Hawley, FF Phelan, FF Luddy, FF Dufficy, FF Alessio, Chief Guastaferri, and in the rear, one of our biggest supporters, Bentley.

👏 FF Mariah Hawley and FF Fran Phelan successfully graduated from the Firefighter I program, earning their certifications after months of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and practical evaluations.

👏 FF Alex Luddy successfully completed the Firefighter II program, further advancing his training and skills to better serve our community.

These accomplishments represent countless hours of training, dedication, and commitment to protecting our community. We are incredibly proud of these members for reaching this milestone and grateful for their continued service to the residents of Prospect.

Please join us in congratulating them on their achievements!
