Road hazards come in many shapes, sizes and materials. This one was found on S. Franklin St. near Harmon Ln. Although our officer was able to avoid it, the vehicle behind behind him could not and tried to straddle it causing it to roll under their vehicle. The damage it caused disabled the vehicle causing it to be taken by flatbed for repairs. Fortunately the officer was able to remove the hazard from the road way before any more vehicles hit it. If anyone knows who this may belong to please contact our office right away.

With all of the snow we've been getting we would like to remind everyone that it is illegal to operate a vehicle without first clearing the snow and ice from it. Especially all of your windows and license plate! Think safe, drive safe, get home safe!

Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories have been posted for most of our area.

Ice will be just as much of an impact as the forecast snow. Conditions will deteriorate quickly Friday evening with rain --> freezing rain --> snow.

Snow totals are shown on the Warnings/Advisory graphic. Please share to spread the word.

Also, check our webpage frequently for any updates to the forecast: http://www.weather.gov/pbz/winter

Good morning! Some scattered snow showers are possible today, associated with a weak wave passing to our south and a possible lake-effect band later today. Any accumulation will be an inch or less in most cases, perhaps a bit more north of I-80. The main story of the next few days will be the cold, especially the expected frigid wind chills, for which Wind Chill Advisories have been issued.

The ongoing advisory for the higher elevations was extended through 1 PM Tuesday, and a new advisory for several Pennsylvania and Ohio counties was issued for the period from midnight tonight (Happy New Year!) through 9 AM Monday. While the wind will not be excessively strong, the ongoing cold air temperatures combined with that wind will allow wind chill values to drop to between 10 and 25 degrees below zero during the indicated periods.

So, if you are going out tonight to celebrate the new year, bundle up and try to limit your exposure to the cold!
