Lomenta Foundation

Lomenta Foundation Dawn Yankeelov is the mother of the late Annmarie Campbell, as well as Melissa Barrett, 20.

The mission of the Lomenta Foundation, as stated by its founder Dawn Marie Yankeelov, is to fund and empower activities that support growth and expansion of individuals being trained at higher academic institutions in the arts. The nonprofit Lomenta Foundation, founded by Dawn Marie Yankeelov in 2013 has been formed to work in the areas of interest of the late Annmarie Campbell, who lived a life o

f passion and adventure working as an artist. Melissa Barrett works to support her sister's memory each Annmarie's Art Breakfast on Derby. The mission of this organization is to fund and empower activities that support growth and expansion of individuals being trained at higher academic institutions in the arts, or already working in arts communities, expressing or exploring issues, genres, and thought-provoking ideas. The foundation’s mainline messaging is to “power the arts with purpose and passion.”
Annmarie Campbell grew up in Louisville and was a passionate artist and Murray State art graduate that understood both the dark and the beautiful sides of weathering life’s journeys. The intent of her work was to investigate relationships of duality—principally, attraction and repulsion. Campbell devoted much of her time to drawing, printmaking and photography. She died at age 23 in May 2006, while serving as an artist-in-residence at Fancy That in Paris, Tenn., attacked by an alligator on an outdoor adventure in Ocala, Florida. Several activities that have been formed in Annmarie Campbell’s memory will continue to receive attention from this organization as it expands.

This will always be my Annie's birthday. Here is a throwback photo as a memory I cherish as her mother. Family was an important part of Annie's short life. Take care of your families and your extended families in this time of the Coronavirus crisis. Give to Bernheim Forest for her memorial and Murray State University's scholarship in her name for the art department. Peace!
