By this time 250 years ago, the British troops had arrived in Concord, west of Lexington.
The engagement with militia on Lexington Green was in the early hours of 5am-6am.

To the Brit's dismay, the armory in Concord was empty and they would begin to encounter with local minutemen again.
Having now already faced resistance in Lexington thought to be nothing of concern on the way westward, they would shortly find out that it will be a very long and bloody march back to Boston.

The militias now were more organized as far as numbers and tactics.
While British reinforcements arrived in Lexington, it was too little, too late. Constantly surrounded, harrassed, confused, out managed and exhausted.
Townsmen from all over, came to repel the British, stalking their retreat back to Boston along present day rt. 2, Old Massachusetts Turnpike.

By the time British reached Charlestown, casualties racked up to nearly 300.
It would be their only venture out of Boston limits as Americans surrounded the town immediately with heavy fortifications, lasting for an entire year.

In two months, both forces would meet again atop the heights of Charlestown.
Local militia would be even more organized, formed in ranks, entrenched and ready to fight while the British amassed their navy and strength ready to vanquish any resistance.

The banner pictured is the Bedford flag, carried onto the fields by the Bedford Militia.
It is considered to be the first ever flag of representing Americans to be flown on a battlefield.

The originial flag is on display at the Bedford Library.

President Trump is to deliver his speech before Congress.

This date also serves as the day of which a president was inaugurated on.

President Washington was set to be inaugurated on the 4th, however, it was delayed until April 30th as he was traveling from Mt. Vernon to NYC.

Also, March 4th of 1789 was the meeting of the First Congress, setting in stone multiple Secretary cabinets...

On this day in 1931: The "Star Spangled Banner" officially becomes the national anthem of the United States. Inspired by the American flag still standing after the British bombarded Fort McHenry, Francis Scott Key proudly recorded the words that would honor America's perseverance and unique standing as the beacon of liberty in the world. While we have unfortunately witnessed too many attacks on our national anthem and far too many displays of disrespect to the American flag, the "Star Spangled Banner" will always represent the land of the free and serves as a reminder that despite efforts to undermine it, pride and patriotism in America will prevail.

COLUMBUS DAY IS A LIE!
Norse Explorer Leif Erikson discovered America almost 500 years before Columbus.
UNLIKE Columbus, he actually stepped foot in North America here.
Other Europeans nations were also here trading with Native American Indians long before Columbus.
I’m Wampanoag Indian myself on my Mom’s side.

That’s why many states dropped Columbus Day because it’s a false holiday.
I’m Italian on my Dad’s side but I’m not going to live a lie to appease people.
The whole holiday/tradition is based off of a massive lie!
Plus Columbus was a very bad person.

And NO, he didn’t bring Christianity to this side of the world, it was here before he was born.

Historic musket balls fired at British in 1770s found in Concord, Massachusetts, park

Early analysis of the 18th-century musket balls indicates they were fired by colonial militia members at British forces during the North Bridge fight.
