This is ENTIRELY unacceptable. The People need to take actions into their own hands to defend people who need a helping hand!

We're discussing a new name! We were made aware a separate org is already using this acronym and we don't want to cause confusion.

We're open to suggestions for a new name, and it doesn't have to include specifically Rhode Island as we intend to take action in New England more broadly!

Also, what days work best for people who are interested in boots on the ground community work?

We were recently informed there's another org that we don't necessarily want to be associated with that uses the same acronym.

We will likely be changing the name in the near future and we welcome input/suggestions for a new name!

Of course, we still aim to build networks with other orgs and activists, to share resources and manpower. To make a difference, and get on the same page.

We'll still be doing the work, of course... but keep an eye out for the name change!

Is there a hairdresser in the New England area who would be willing to give up a Saturday or Sunday to help the homeless in Providence? We will help you use it for marketing.

RICH is intending to hit the ground running this spring with a "Feed the People Urban Agricultural Program" to decrease food insecurity. We intend to discuss this at our public planning meeting on Sunday (make sure to attend!)

Possible options include community gardens in public parks or unused, abandoned lots. Guerrilla gardening along sidewalks or bike paths, and, of course seed bombs.

We always encourage the participation and suggestions of the community! Whether you're an individual, a gardening club, a revolutionary group, or whatever.... There's room for you to get involved with this coalition.

Rhode Island Community Housing has begun a "Serve the People" program at Dexter Training Grounds. We're aiming to serve the community residing inside the Cranston Street Armory.

The conditions in the shelter and the treatment of the residents leaves plenty of room for improvement. We're focusing on doing consistent outreach and trying to directly address the needs of the community.

On this list, you'll see many of the needs that were declared by the residents. We're currently seeking to gather as many of these materials as possible to continue our efforts!
