Since 1966, Providence College students have reveled in Ring Weekend. It’s a time when the upcoming graduating class celebrates the class ring tradition and the college experience it symbolizes.

See some PC class rings and Ring Weekend memorabilia currently on display in the library, part of the Archives and Special Collections exhibit Out of the Box!

Make sure to stop in during our special open hours June 5th and 6th for reunion weekend to view the exhibit.

Meet Dr. Rachael Bonoan, Assistant Professor of Biology. 📚
For our READ campaign, Dr. Bonoan chose Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. She shared that she first fell in love with Austen’s work in a college literature class, drawn to the strong female leads, witty dialogue, and sharp commentary on class. Pride and Prejudice and Emma remain two of the novels she returns to again and again.

Flashback to 1976, when the first Apple computer was made, the country celebrated its bicentennial, and PC had its first commencement at the Civic Center, now the AMP!

745 baccalaureate and 198 master’s degrees (including, for the first time, MBAs) were awarded to students.

Sen. John O. Pastore (whose papers reside in PC’s Archives) gave the commencement address and received the Veritas Medal of Honor at the event.

For our READ campaign, Dr. Oakley chose Circe by Madeline Miller. She describes it as an enchanting, emotionally intelligent, and deeply thoughtful reimagining of myth. She says Miller’s story and style are worth revisiting each year. She also recommends the audiobook for audiobook lovers.
