Sgt. Maxwell R. Dorley Foundation SMRDF is a non-profit organization that is committed to assisting in the economic struggles faced by underserved communities, founded 4-19-12 in his memory Sgt.

Maxwell R Dorley was killed on April 19, 2012 whe his patrol car struck a utility pole while responding to a disturbance call to assist fellow officers. Dorley served on the Providence Police Department for 16 years. Maxwell enjoyed giving back to the community. Both local and international. Donating toys, clothing and goods to families, homeless shelters and residents of housing projects, through

out Providence, RI as well as donating uniforms to officers in Liberia, West Africa. Dorley lived his life fully with hope and sacrifice always wanting to make a difference in the lives of others. Likewise the mission and goal of SMRDF is to help support individuals and families that are facing financial hardships within their community. The money raised each year sponsors Christmas toy drives, cash contributions to homeless shelters, various community charities and specific individuals and families both on a domestic and international level.
