Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. As you know, a major focus of my campaign for Lieutenant Governor was protecting healthcare for all Rhode Islanders. In the many years that I was a small business owner, I made it a priority to offer health care benefits to my employees because I believe that everyone deserves access to affordable, quality health care. But each year, the cost of providing this important benefit to my workers kept rising, often at an astronomical rate.
I knew I wasn’t alone, and that many other small business owners in Rhode Island and across the country were struggling with runaway health insurance costs. That’s why I’ve joined the Health Insurance Small Employer Taskforce—a group of small business owners and nonprofit leaders who are banding together to make sure insurance regulators and policymakers know that we cannot afford these unsustainable health care prices.
Right now, health insurance companies in Rhode Island are once again seeking excessive rate increases for next year. The good news is, Rhode Island has a Health Insurance Commissioner who can put a stop to these unfair price hikes—but only if she hears from us.
The Commissioner will take public comments from health insurance purchasers—small business owners and individuals—on Monday, June 22 from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Public Utilities Commission, 89 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick. Will you join us at the meeting, and tell the Commissioner that Rhode Island’s small businesses and families cannot afford any more unfair rate increases?
RSVP for the Public Comment Meeting
Mark Gray is the coordinator of the Small Employer Taskforce Coordinator, and he is ready and willing to help you prepare to tell your story to the Commissioner. The Commissioner is looking for short statements – up to 2 minutes long. You can reach Mark at 401-206-7044.
I know that when we come together and make our voices heard, anything is possible. The Commissioner is eager to hear from us, and needs our support to push back against the insurance companies.
Thank you, as always, for your support.
Sincerely,
Frank Ferri
PS If you can’t make the June 22 public input meeting, you can submit written comments to the Commissioner by sending an email to [email protected].
