It is disheartening to see leaders or team members publicly criticize their colleagues. Blasting a coworker doesn't demonstrate superiority; it often reveals a failure to collaborate or help fix the underlying issue. It is important to remember that outsiders don't respect gossip—they simply enjoy the drama. True leadership is found in private mentorship, not public disparagement.

Behind every siren is a team willing to leave their families, miss holidays, lose sleep, work long hours, and walk into chaos to help complete strangers on what may be the worst day of their lives.

During EMS Week, we proudly recognize the men and women who dedicate themselves to serving others during emergencies, illness, uncertainty, and crisis.

To our EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters: thank you for your sacrifice, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to this community. Your willingness to answer the call at any hour, provide care in difficult situations, and remain calm under pressure makes an immeasurable difference in the lives of those we serve. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the compassion you show, and the courage you carry every single day. You are often the calm in someone’s storm and the helping hand in moments that matter most.

EMS is not simply a profession; it is service rooted in compassion, teamwork, and dedication. EMS professionals see heartbreak, fear, tragedy, and loss, but they also witness hope, healing, survival, and strength. They kneel beside the scared, comfort the hurting, fight for lives, and carry burdens many never see.

To the citizens of our community: thank you for your trust and continued support. It is a privilege to care for our neighbors when they need us most.

Please join us in thanking the EMS professionals who work tirelessly to protect and care for our community.

**Heartwarming Community Connection at Providence Head Start!** ❤️

What a fantastic day it was for our fire department as Assistant Chief Lee Jenkins, FF/EMT Mike Ashcraft, and FF/EMT Kelsie Hurst visited the wonderful children at Providence Head Start - Daycare!

The crew had the joy of spending a morning filled with laughter and smiles, sharing enchanting stories and engaging with the kids. From exploring the pages of colorful books to answering the curious questions of little ones, the interaction brought joy to everyone involved.

It was a truly special experience that reminded us of the importance of community and connection. Thank you, Providence Head Start, for allowing us to be part of your day! We look forward to more moments like this in the future! 💖🚒

**Providence Fire Dept Advisory: Elevated Wildfire Danger**

Attention Providence city Residents,

Relative humidity levels are expected to drop to between 25% and 35%, accompanied by breezy winds from the south at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching 25 to 30 mph. Our region is currently facing moderate to severe drought, leading to extremely dry vegetation.

If you see any signs of fire, please report it immediately to local law enforcement. Together, we can keep Webster County safe!

As Fire Chief, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated volunteers who consistently rise to the occasion, answering call after call without seeking recognition. These remarkable individuals show up day or night, braving all weather conditions—whether hot or cold, rain or snow—to assist our paid firefighters. Working alongside these professionals speaks volumes about their selflessness and commitment to our community.

I would like to highlight Joshua Taylor, who not only serves our department but also lends his talents to multiple departments across Webster and Hopkins. His hard work and unwavering dedication set him apart, and his contributions are truly unmatched. On behalf of the citizens of Providence, thank you, Josh. Your efforts make a significant difference, and we genuinely appreciate all that you do.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on March 30, 2026, Providence Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire. A shift led by Assistant Chief Lee Jenkins arrived to find a modular home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters T. Johnson and J. Sprenger and N. Perry initially executed a successful interior attack, K. Gardner and D. Gardner responded in Engine 2 and J. Taylor arrived as second in as while R. Hensley, D. Crowly, and Chief Jeff Yates of Dixon FD conducted ladder operations. Nebo and Webster County Ladder 1 also played crucial roles, and Nebo FD’s Jared Yates served as water‑supply officer, keeping two fire trucks and a ladder truck in operation. Special thanks to Chief Steve Ashby for helping manage the exterior crew. The level of teamwork displayed was impressive—thank you to everyone who responded and assisted.
