We are proud to advocate for and support our 20 charter public schools, which are working every day to improve education for all students. Since our founding in 2001, the Rhode Island League of Charter Schools has worked to expand the role of charter public schools in our public education system. ✨Our are kicking off the new school year!

Last week, our charter public schools brought students, families, and educators together to mark the beginning of a new school year. From student-led orientations to ice cream socials to open houses, all events shared a common message: You belong here.

Rhode Island’s charter public schools are shared spaces of belonging, growth, and opportunity. We can’t wait to see what the next year holds.

🏆 Our Summer series continues! This past Spring, Farmer Kati Maginel from The Compass School received an international Green Difference Award from Project Greenschools!

Thanks to Kati’s incredible vision, The Compass School Farm has transformed into a vibrant outdoor classroom where students build confidence, learn hands-on responsibility, and fall in love with the natural world.

💚 Her passion for experiential learning inspires our kids every single day to become true stewards of the planet. Students from The Compass School traveled to the awards ceremony in NY and performed a skit at the event!

🎉Congratulations to Blackstone Valley Prep and The Greene School, named #6 and #7 Best High Schools in RI by U.S. News & World Report!

Two very different missions, two very different school campuses, one shared commitment: Making sure all kids can access a school that's right for them through intentional diversity at BVP and significant investment in statewide transportation at The Greene School.

These schools exemplify what it means to be a charter public school: mission-focused, tuition-free, and focused on providing every student a high-quality education.

Our know that every day counts! 📚

Yesterday, we celebrated the Attendance All-Stars at the State House, including RI Nurses Institute Middle College Charter School, Nuestro Mundo Public Charter School, The Compass School, The Greene School, SouthSide Elementary Charter School, Segue Institute for Learning, and Segue Legacy High School! 🌟 Showing up for school matters, and these schools are leading the way in getting students through the door and creating a sense of belonging!

Thank you to the dedicated teachers, leaders, families, and students who make showing up every day a priority. Keep up the incredible momentum! 👏

Happy ! 🎉 Today we're celebrating the nonprofits across Rhode Island who show up every day for kids and families — including our own team at the Rhode Island League of Charter Public Schools.

Executive Director Chiara Deltito-Sharrott shares why this work matters, from partnering with member schools to deepen practice and shift the focus to students to serving on the state's Blue Ribbon Commission for education funding.
