Congratulations to the Town of Bristol, RI Government on the grand opening of their new community learning center!

Located in the Rogers Free Library, this new community resource will support educational programming, workforce development trainings and healthcare resources. A new makerspace, known as the Studio, will be outfitted with equipment for advanced robotics classes, a 3D printer, physical to digital photo and video scanning technology and more.

Funded by Governor Dan McKeeRhode Island Community Learning Center grant program, this space will bring exciting learning opportunities and resources to the Bristol community.

Applications are now open for the New England Heat Pump Accelerator's Community Grants Program, which will fund innovative projects that expand access to affordable heating and cooling for low- and moderate-income households.

Local governments, community organizations, housing and real estate stakeholders and other entities can apply for grants of up to $500,000 to pilot local solutions that increase heat pump adoption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Municipal leaders are encouraged to apply and/or share this opportunity with eligible partners that may have ideas to help residents benefit from clean, energy-efficient technologies.

Cities and towns are actively working to address the state's housing challenges by creating opportunities for families, supporting local employers, and helping the next generation put down roots in their communities.

Initiatives like Governor Dan McKee and the Executive Office of Housing's Entry Level Homeownership Program provide municipalities with practical tools to expand affordable homeownership opportunities.

The League was pleased to celebrate the first round of projects advancing, and we encourage our communities and developers to take full advantage of the second round of funding.

After three decades of dedicated service to the Town of Burrillville, Michael Wood has announced his plans for a well-deserved retirement. During his tenure as town manager, Mike helped usher in a new era of advancing housing development, expanding retail opportunities, and investing in vibrant community spaces throughout Burrillville's villages.

His legacy will be one of thoughtful leadership, responsible fiscal stewardship, and a steadfast commitment to the community he served. The Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns is grateful for Mike's years of service on our Executive Board and for his many contributions to local government across the state.
