This week, Japanese junior high students visited City Hall as part of a BYU program. Each year, students get the chance to learn about Provo and ask questions about how our city is run.

We love when students make an effort to learn about government, whether they’re from across town or across the world. Thanks for coming by!

🎉 Congratulations to Dennys Hernandez, Provo City's July 2026 Employee of the Month!

In recognizing Dennys at the latest Council meeting, Provo Police Chief Troy Beebe said:

"Victim Advocate Dennys Hernandez is a champion for the citizens of Provo and for everyone who needs support during her two and a half years with Provo City. She first served as a a part-time court advocate before transitioning to a full-time victim advocate. Her strong work ethic, organizational skills, and compassion allow her to provide exceptional service to every client regardless of their circumstances.

As an affluent Spanish speaker, she also provides valuable interpretation and translation assistance throughout the Police Department and other departments within the city. Her language and cultural knowledge help serve many Provo residents in an authentic and meaningful way.

Dennys has played an important role in strengthening the victim services department. When she recognizes a need, she takes initiative and addresses it. She continually seeks training and opportunities to improve her skills, then generously shares what she learns with clients and colleagues.

As a lifelong Provo resident, Dennys is an outstanding example of the values Provo represents and of the dedicated service our city and police department provide to our community."
