There is something pretty magical about a child opening the mailbox and finding a book addressed especially to them. 📚

That’s the beauty of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Dolly and the Imagination Library’s book selection committee carefully choose high-quality, age-appropriate books for children from birth to age five. The Imagination Library coordinates the program so each book is prepared with the child’s name and mailing information and delivered right to their home.

But here’s something many people may not realize:🤔

🌟The books are free to families — but they aren’t free to United Way.

For every Saginaw County child participating in the program, **United Way of Saginaw County pays for the books AND the postage** to get those special packages into little mailboxes across our community. ❤️

And Saginaw County has embraced Dolly’s dream in an incredible way. ❤️Miss Dolly’s dream was to inspire a love of reading in children by making sure they could have books of their very own at home, regardless of their family’s income. ❤️.

📚 2,618 children are currently receiving books each month.

🎓 8,024 children** have already graduated from the program with United Way support.

The tremendous growth of the program has outpaced the funding currently available. To responsibly protect the 2,618 children already receiving books each month, we have **temporarily paused new enrollments** while we work to secure additional community support.

Our goal is to build sustainable funding that allows us to continue serving the children already enrolled — and welcome new Saginaw County children again.

🫶That’s where our community comes in. ❤️

Every gift helps keep books arriving, home libraries growing, families reading together, and children building the early literacy skills that will follow them into school and beyond.

A child who begins the program at birth can receive up to 60 books before their fifth birthday.

We love Dolly. ❤️

And we love what this program has made possible for thousands of Saginaw County children.
