Woody For Progress

Woody For Progress Woody Percival: Candidate for Pueblo County Commissioner (D1) in Nov. 2024.

03/01/2024

A personal message to friends, family, and a myriad of supporters.
After considerable introspection, I have chosen to withdraw my candidacy for Pueblo County Commissioner, District 1. At this point in my life, I have a new perspective on the importance of family. We have eight grandchildren as of 2023 (five just in the last 8 months!), and also have a sibling who has the new challenge of battling cancer. These issues, combined with the fact that there is another choice for a new D-1 Commissioner that shares my core Democratic values, is the basis for my decision.
I have an enormous respect for the importance of the position of County Commissioner, and encourage you to support change in the leadership for District 1.
Thank you to the many, many instances of support that you have shown to me, and for your understanding of my family's decision.
Woody Percival
*Remember, all of Pueblo County votes for each Commissioner, regardless of which district you reside in, so it is important to VOTE for the candidate in the other district that is open in November, 2024 as well.

I am Woody Percival, a proud, near-lifelong resident of Pueblo County, who attended D-70 schools and graduated from County High. After a few years of college and world experience, I returned to Pueblo in 1990. In 1994 I joined the Pueblo Fire Department, eventually holding nearly every rank short of chief-level. I retired in 2023 as a Fire Captain after nearly 30 years of service.
During my career, I also had a couple of small businesses, and was active with the Pueblo Firefighters Historical Society, IAFF Local 3 fire union, and other groups.
My life experience includes working on a local farm, being a YMCA Camp (Crockett) Jackson counselor, a wrangler at the old Don K Dude Ranch, and a plethora of customer service/sales-related positions, all of which lead to where I stand today.
My family is extremely public service-based, including law enforcement, military, nursing, teaching, and federal and county employees. It seems to be in our DNA!
I believe that my unique experience gives me a well-rounded set of administrative, management, budgetary, planning, fiscal, compliance, enforcement, service, and communication skills that will lend well to the position of County Commissioner.
As your Commissioner, I will be focused on economic development and business, public safety/crime, countywide employee retention, homelessness, and overall transparency and communication.
Thank you for this moment of your time! If you have specific issues that you want me to be aware of, feel free to email me at [email protected].
