A new series has arrived called Mayor v. Myth. Where I breakdown the myth of misinformation about city government and help you understand the facts.

This week's myth center's around the City budget and auditing.

The myth is: "The City does not regularly have financial audits. When they do have an audit done, it can be 12 to 18 months delayed from the year prior. This makes the information out of date and irrelevant for current financial decisions."

The fact is: "An independent certified public accounting firm audits the basic financial statements of the City of Pueblo on an annual basis. The purpose of the audit is to ensure that the financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position and the results of operations of the City.

The City of Pueblo is required to undergo an annual single audit in conformity with the provisions of the Revised Single Audit Act of 1996 and the Government Auditing Standards and Uniform Guidance Reports."

Want to find out more about City's most recent audit or the current budget. Find the annual comprehensive financial report on the City's website. https://www.pueblo.us/178/Annual-Comprehensive-Financial-Report You can get up to date information with the transparency portal to see exactly where your tax payer funds are being spent.

We had a great time hosting the Colorado Municipal League (CML) Districts 7 and 14 meeting. The City of Pueblo hosted our colleagues on the rooftop of the Pueblo Riverwalk Boathouse and then took a sneak peek tour of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of North America & STEAM Center .

We had folks from Trinidad, CO. , Town of La Veta , Town of Rocky Ford , Glendale, Colorado , Colorado Springs and Aguilar. We also has Congressman Jeff Hurd's State Director Cathy Garcia, the State Director of USFA Rural Development Sallie Clark, Purple Wave Auction and Bohannan Huston in attendance.

Municipalities shared about their America 250/Colorado 150 initiatives, their Independence Day celebrations, upgrades to infrastructure, Main Street Revitalization grants, new construction and more from their respective municipalities. There's no shortage of amazing events and things to do in Pueblo and our surrounding communities this summer! Bass fishing, bocci ball tournaments, music festivals and more.

Thank you to our sponsors of the event Jared Lee of Ameresco and Kevin Keilbach of HUB International, we appreciate the support you provide to our municipalities.

Thank you to all our hardworking employees in the City of Pueblo Public Works Department! We appreciate all you do.

It's National Public Works Week! This year's theme is rooted in service, powered by community.

That's what Public Works does--provides services each and every day to the community both seen and unseen. It might the traffic light working on your commute to work, it might be the filled pothole by your favorite local spot, or the street sweeping on your block. It can even look like project planning, design review or answering a call for a permit.

Thank you to all our City of Pueblo Public Works employees for all you do to serve our community.
