It will remain wet during the late afternoon and evening time periods the next few days. The wettest day is expected to be Saturday. A Flash Flood watch has been issued for the Aspen Acres burn scar, and additional watches may need to be issued as the weekend progresses. In addition to the heavy rain threat, a few of the storms today could be strong and produce marginal severe hail and wind gusts to 60 mph.

The monsoon moisture plume is over the region and it will likely remain over the region for the next several days. The monsoon moisture plume is over the region and it will likely remain over the region for the next several days. With this increase in moisture, the flash flooding threat for the burn scars and urban areas will be on the increase as daily rounds of afternoon and evening thunderstorms occur over the area. A cold front will move through eastern Colorado tonight, with noticeably cooler weather moving into the area on Thursday, and lasting into the early next week. Monsoon moisture will gradually increase over the area into the weekend, bringing a much better chance for precipitation to the area, with the best chance for precipitation expected Friday into the weekend. Locally heavy rain can be expected, with an elevated flash flood threat developing, especially over the burn scars and urban areas.

Monsoon moisture is returning into the region, bringing increasing thunderstorm chances and the potential for locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding. The best chance for heavier rain will be Thursday and Friday. Those in and near burn scars should stay alert and make preparations now for the potential for flash flooding. Monitor weather.gov/pueblo for the latest forecasts, watches and warnings.
