Today, we had the privilege of witnessing fhe honoring Dee Dunlap for her service in the Women’s Army Corps in Vietnam as she received a beautifully handcrafted Quilt of Valor.
The quilt was lovingly presented by Nancy with Quilts of Valor, each stitch representing gratitude, sacrifice, and appreciation for Dee’s military service. Dee was surrounded by love and support, including her son and her fellow sisters from the SoCo Mary Walker Chapter 122 of the WACVA-AWU, who were proud to stand with her on this meaningful day.
This presentation serves as a powerful reminder that a veteran’s service is never forgotten and that honoring our women veterans is an essential part of preserving our shared history.
Thank you, Dee, for your courage, commitment, and service to our country. 💛
Veterans helping Veterans—always.

🇺🇸 Happy Veterans Day from SoCo Mary Walker Chapter 122! 🇺🇸

Today, the SoCo Mary Walker Chapter 122 of the Women's Army Corps Veterans Association - Army Women United joins the nation in offering our deepest gratitude and respect to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

On this Veterans Day, we honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of every veteran—past and present—who answered the call to protect and defend our freedoms.

To Our Sisters and Brothers in Service:

Thank you for your commitment, your resilience, and for the indelible mark you have left on our nation's history.
We specifically remember and honor the legacy of the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and all Military Women who paved the way, demonstrating strength and capability in every role assigned.

Remember Dr. Mary Walker

Our chapter is proud to be named after Dr. Mary Walker, the only woman to receive the Medal of Honor. She embodied the spirit of service and determination, and her example inspires us every day.

Take a moment today to thank a veteran you know. Their service is a gift to us all.

Happy Veterans Day!

🎖️ Happy Women Veterans Recognition Day! 🎖️

Today, June 12, the SoCo Mary Walker Chapter 122 WACVA–AWU proudly salutes all of our Chapter members and fellow women veterans for their outstanding service, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to our nation.

This date also marks the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, signed on June 12, 1948, which granted women permanent, regular roles in every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces .

Earlier today, our very own Roxie, Dee, and Brandi participated in a Women Veterans Recognition event graciously hosted by Shelley Gauna (of Mary Walker Chapter 122 and Auxiliary President at Minnequa VFW Post 3641) and Kelly Brude, Junior Vice President of Minnequa VFW Post 3641. Their presence exemplifies our chapter’s dedication and unity in honoring women who’ve served.

Let’s elevate this recognition even further—reach out to your state and national representatives and urge them to formally recognize June 12 as Women Veterans Recognition Day nationwide and at the federal level. Together, we can ensure that every woman veteran’s contribution is honored—everywhere, every time! 🇺🇸

We are thrilled to share that last night, June 9th, the Pueblo City Council presented a Proclamation recognizing Women Veterans Recognition Day to Shelley Gauna, of the WACVA-AWU Mary Walker Chapter 122 and President of the Minnequa VFW Post 3641 Auxiliary, and to Kelly Brude, Junior Vice President of Minnequa VFW Post 3641!

This powerful recognition sets the stage for the First Annual Women Veterans Recognition Day Celebration — hosted by the Post and Auxiliary of VFW 3641 and Medicare Mentors LLC — happening June 12th, 2025 from 4–7 PM at 724 E 4th St, Pueblo, CO.

We are so excited to celebrate the courageous service and lasting impact of women veterans. There will be hors d'oeuvres, camaraderie, and special appreciation gift bags for all attending women veterans.

Please share this with the amazing women veterans you know. Let’s fill the room with pride, sisterhood, and gratitude.

Today, we pause in solemn remembrance of the brave women and men who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to the ideals of freedom and democracy will never be forgotten.

From every branch of the military, across generations and conflicts, these heroes stood in defense of something greater than themselves. We honor not only their sacrifice, but the legacy they leave behind—a legacy of resilience, duty, and honor.

This Memorial Day, let us reflect on the true cost of our freedom. May we remember with gratitude, mourn with reverence, and live in a way that honors those who gave all.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Chapter members were proudly out in the community this weekend, actively representing both our chapter and the legacy of women veterans. Vice President Roxie Frank connected with fellow veterans and shared our mission at the Community Veteran Resource Fair hosted by the VFW Pueblo, where she welcomed interest from potential new members. Meanwhile, Secretary Brandi JackSon attended the private showing of the Veteran Art Exhibition at the Cottonwood Center for the Arts, presented by Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center where she is honored to have two of her photographs featured on display for the next six weeks.
