🚨Momentum Mondays! Technology Digest TD26-025 is available for download🚨

Freight car wheels with SSFCs can lead to high-impact wheels and/or, in some cases, cracked or broken rims. MxV Rail explored various statistical approaches on the historical ultrasonic waveform (signal) data used to identify early warning signs of SSFCs and monitor the progression of SSFCs in the wheel rim.

When MxV Rail relocated it’s entire testing facility in 2022, we knew we had the perfect opportunity to take the best aspects of our old test tracks and improve upon them with designs that work the way modern on-track testing demands.
As part of our larger track loop configuration, the FAST loop allows rail components to experience years of real world conditions in a controlled environment—faster and more efficiently than revenue service alone.

The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) has recognized the Colorado Section with the Silver President's Award for its outstanding achievements and contributions during the 2025-2026 program year.

We're proud to congratulate Denise Valdez, MxV Rail NDE-MET Technician and Vice-Chair of the Colorado Section, who will represent the chapter at ASNT 2026 in Columbus, Ohio, where the award will be presented during the Lunch and Closing Keynote on October 15. We also congratulate Brian Lindeman, MxV Rail Sr. Engineer II-NDE and Treasurer of ASNT Colorado, whose contributions helped make this important recognition possible.

This achievement reflects the commitment, collaboration, and industry leadership of the entire Colorado ASNT chapter. Congratulations to all involved on this outstanding accomplishment!
