About 24 hours to go — the future of Pueblo is on the line. Are we going to keep a Mayor and keep moving forward, or go backwards and hand more power to a dysfunctional council? The choice is clear. Vote NO on 2C.

Republicans. Democrats. Union members. Elected officials. Community leaders. They don’t always agree — but they do on this one: Puebloans need to vote NO on 2C.

Both Mayors — past and present — say NO.
A City Councilor says NO.
County Commissioners say NO.
Police, Firefighter, and City Employee Unions say NO.
Even the Labor Council says NO.

Across Pueblo, the message is the same: No on 2C. Yes to accountability.

Under the Mayoral system, Pueblo has seen real progress in public safety — not just talk. The Mayor issued an order to speed up police hiring, helping close department vacancies faster than ever. The city also created the IMPACT Team to tackle gun violence and gang activity head-on.

A Mayor can act immediately to make our community safer — something a city manager, buried in bureaucracy and beholden to City Council, simply cannot do.

Public safety can’t wait on politics. Keep a Mayor. Keep Pueblo safe.

You know what’s really scary? A future where City Council controls everything.

That’s exactly what 2C does. If it passes, City Council will have total control over Pueblo — and there’ll be no way to return to a mayoral form of government. No turning back.

👻 Don’t let the real horror show begin — vote NO on 2C.

Since moving to a Mayoral system, Pueblo has seen more zoning permits pulled, new developments breaking ground, and record growth across the city. Why? Because a Mayor can take action, cut through bureaucracy, and make quick policy changes to attract new businesses and support local developers.

A city manager can’t do that — they’re just an employee, limited by process and council politics.

If we want to keep Pueblo growing, we need leadership that moves — not more meetings that stall progress. Keep a Mayor.

When I ask myself which form of government I trust to deliver on Pueblo’s long-term priorities, the answer is clear: A mayor.

Since moving to a Mayoral system, Pueblo has seen real progress — not empty promises.

✅ Secured $1 million from the Department of Local Affairs for the HARP expansion, enhancing and beautifying our Riverwalk
✅ De-Bruced, unlocking $30 million for critical road repairs
✅ Issued a mayoral order to speed up police hiring and close department vacancies
✅ Established Pueblo’s first permanent homeless shelter
✅ Developed an online permitting system that makes growth and development faster and more efficient

These are tangible wins — the kind of progress that comes from decisive leadership and direct accountability to voters. Keep a mayor.

Some say a mayoral system costs more. But the truth? Pueblo’s old city manager system was far more expensive.

👉 In 2017, the city manager made $182,947 a year — plus leave, benefits, bonuses, and severance pay. Under the manager system, taxpayers also paid for two deputy city managers and an assistant city manager — each making six figures.

👉 Meanwhile, the current mayor earns $150,000, gets no leave, no severance, and works directly for you — the voters.

Vote NO on 2C — keep Pueblo accountable and cost-effective.

We’ve all watched City Council’s dysfunction hurt Pueblo’s progress. And now they want even more power under 2C.

If it passes, this current Council would pick the next City Manager, giving the same divided group full control over our city’s future. Four votes will control our City's future-- forever.

Vote NO on 2C. Keep a Mayor who answers to the people, not the chaos.

Mayors get things done — City Council doesn’t. Under a Mayor, Pueblo’s made progress: more development, more accountability, more results. City Council, on the other hand, stalls, fights, and delays. Don’t hand the keys to the same people who can’t even run a meeting.

Vote NO on 2C.

Pueblo deserves leadership we can count on. That’s why we chose a mayor— someone elected by the people, accountable to every voter, not just a handful of politicians on city council.

A Mayor can lobby for funding, streamline government, and act decisively to move Pueblo forward. A city manager? Bound by process, controlled by City Council, and never accountable to you.

We tried that system for decades—and it failed our community. Let’s not go back.

On Election Day, vote NO on 2C. Keep Pueblo’s mayor. Keep Pueblo moving forward.
