Please join NeighborWorks Southern Colorado at our Annual Celebration of Home "Garden Party" Luncheon on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at CSU-Pueblo, where we will celebrate Danny Jones as this year's Volunteer of the Year.

A native of Pueblo, Danny moved to San Diego, California, in 1988 and graduated from El Capitan High School in 1989. After graduating from high school, he began working for the San Diego County Water Authority as a licensed plumber and eventually worked his way back to Pueblo in 1993.

After returning to Pueblo, Danny began working at Dana Corporation as a Class A licensed molder while also assisting with his father’s plumbing business, “Jones Plumbing.” When Dana Corporation shut down, Danny continued to manage Jones Plumbing until 2010, when he accepted the position as Commercial Sales Manager at Home Depot. He later transitioned to Lowe’s Home Improvement, where he managed commercial sales and secured his dealership license, enabling him to sell Lowe’s trailers.

In his retirement, Danny enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children, as well as volunteering for local organizations that hold personal significance to him. We are grateful for the contributions Danny makes to our agency and proudly celebrate him as our 2026 Volunteer of the Year.

Please join NeighborWorks Southern Colorado at our Annual Celebration of Home "Garden Party" Luncheon on Friday, August 14, 2026, where we will celebrate Brandi Adakai as this year's "Community Champion".

Brandi Adakai is a proud and blessed mother to Christiana and Josiah, who are her daily inspiration and motivation. A lifelong resident of Pueblo, Colorado, Brandi is deeply passionate about youth, food access, and uplifting her Pueblo community through sustainable and innovative solutions.

Currently serving as the Regional Director for RMSER, Brandi is leading the development of the first-ever Empowerment Center in Pueblo, located at 330 Lake Avenue. These Empowerment Centers are accelerated business incubators designed to house a mix of nonprofits, LLCs, expanding service organizations, and food entrepreneurs—offering nontraditional services and support aimed at driving long-term community empowerment and economic growth.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Brandi serves in multiple leadership roles across the state. She is a board member of the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger, Nourish Colorado, and the Pueblo Food Project, and serves as the ELD Pueblo Native American chair for the El Pomar Foundation. A dedicated advocate for food justice and community-driven solutions, Brandi has spearheaded numerous initiatives to bridge the gap between local producers and consumers. These include mobile food distributions, Blessing Boxes, neighborhood food pantries, small business markets, and grocery store planning for Pueblo’s eastside residents.

Guided by her personal motto—*“With every negative, THERE IS a positive”*—Brandi leads with resilience.
