On International Firefighters Day, we honor Tennessee's bravest. Did you know there over 12,460 volunteer firefighters in Tennessee? That's nearly 60% of the total number of Tennessee's firefighters.

To all of those who are prepared to give all, thank you.

🚨🚨 NOTICE OF TRAINING.
GCFR will be fire training in the area of Holley Lane and Lewisburg Hwy today, mostly all day, ending with a controlled burn of the residential structure. After noon today there will be smoke in the area and fire equipment moving around. Please do not tie up 911 lines with smoke in the area calls.
Please traverse the area carefully and it is a bad curve with limited visibility.
Thank you.

This weekend our members took time away from families and spent the weekend in class training on vehicle extrication. Taking a nice weekend like this one to spend training and recertification of training is what makes our volunteers so special.
They have the heart and desire too serve.

Thank you Giles County Rehab Unit for keeping us hydrated in the heat.

A special THANK YOU to Midsouth Wrecker Service for the donation and transportation of the vehicles.

Most people will never understand it.

They’ll see the truck go by. They’ll hear the sirens. They’ll assume someone is there to take care of it.

And most of the time… they’re right. But what they don’t see is everything behind that moment.

The interrupted dinners. The missed time with family. The early mornings after late nights. The second thoughts… and the decision to go anyway.

They don’t see the quiet conversations after a tough call.

Or the ones who sit in their trucks for a minute before going back inside. Or the people who wonder if they’re doing enough… and still keep showing up.

This has never been about being perfect. It’s never been about having more time than anyone else. It’s about choosing to be part of something bigger… even when it’s inconvenient. Even when it’s hard. Even when nobody is watching.

That’s the heart of a volunteer.

And they still choose to show up! 🚒

Please watch out for our responders… Every responder deserves to go home safely.

GCFR was dispatched to a reported explosion with heavy smoke around 4pm in the York Hollow Rd area. During response we were informed it would be a structure fire, arriving units found 2 garages fully engulfed with surrounding grass and woods on fire with heavy wind pushing the flames. Members were on scene for about 4 hours. Both structures were total loss. No injuries reported.

Thank you to the Giles County EMS for responding as always to keep our guys safe.
Thank you to the Giles County Sheriff Office for the assistance on scene till we could get man power there.
