We have been receiving Scam/Fraud calls more so of recent. Please do not fall for these calls. Most calls or emails will be imposter scams where the perpetrator will pretend to be from a bank, government or law enforcement agency or a utility company.

The imposters will threaten the individual with legal problems, threaten arrest, the seizure of accounts or in the case of utilties threaten to discontinue services. Scammers will claim the only way to solve or protect themselves, individuals must buy cryptocurrency and send money to a wallet for safe keeping. Once the money is sent over cypto it is gone for good. We have had one victim fall for this and was scammed out of nearly $40,000.

Others have been scammed for less. Please do not fall for this intimidation of threats of arrest. Most scammers will spoof the phone number to make it appear they are calling from a local police station. This latest scammer spoofed and used the City of Hermitage Police Department Phone number to call and threaten with arrest. No police or law enforcement agency will call you and ask you to send money to avoid arrest. If you receive a call with any of these requests for money it is a scam. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
