With a heart as warm as the Southwest Florida sun, we are dedicated to managing emergencies and disasters in Charlotte County. With a steadfast commitment to resilience and readiness, we work tirelessly to mitigate risks, educate our residents, and coordinate effective responses when crisis strikes. When the need arises, our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) stands as the nerve center of our respo

nse efforts. Activated in times of crisis, the EOC serves as a hub where key stakeholders converge to coordinate response activities, disseminate critical information, and mobilize resources swiftly and efficiently. From public safety agencies to utility companies and educational institutions, our EOC is the focal point for seamless coordination and rapid decision-making. While our work is rooted in preparedness and response, our ultimate goal is to empower our community to weather any storm, both figuratively and literally. Through education, outreach, and proactive planning, we strive to build a culture of resilience where every resident is equipped to navigate emergencies with confidence and competence. In times of need, remember: we're here for you. But for immediate assistance, always remember to dial 9-1-1. Last Friday, we hosted our 2026 Hurricane Exercise (HURREX) with county staff and community partners.

This coordination exercise tested how Charlotte County agencies, stakeholders, and partners would respond to a fast-moving hurricane event with tornadoes, flooding, shelter operations, reunification challenges, infrastructure impacts, and recovery operations across Charlotte County.

Exercises like this help strengthen communication, coordination, and decision-making before a real disaster happens, ensuring we are prepared to respond together as one team when our community needs us most.

A huge thank you to all participating agencies, partners, evaluators, and staff who helped make this exercise a success!
