Congratulation to Brian Bailey, Public Works Employee of the Month🏆

Brian has been instrumental in developing the Coordinator role from the ground up, creating new ways to strengthen and support the Aquatic W**d Control team. Recognizing the need for modernization, he led the transition from paper-based documentation and outdated billing software to advanced FieldSeeker technology, allowing the team to digitally track work and automate product billing directly from the field.

Brian took the initiative to learn the new system himself and played a key role in training staff on the tablet-based technology. He remains committed to continuous improvement by meeting regularly with software developers to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency in the field.

Over the past year, Brian has also taken on the important responsibility of onboarding several new team members. He has patiently guided them through the pesticide licensing process while teaching them how to identify, evaluate, and develop treatment plans for aquatic w**ds.

Brian is a trusted resource for the team and consistently demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and strong leadership. His dedication and positive approach have made a lasting impact on both the team and the organization.

🦟Mosquito Monday with Charlotte County Public Works 🦟
How can YOU help fight mosquitoes at home?🏡

Mosquitoes breed in standing water and can transmit diseases. Small actions by residents make a huge difference in keeping our community safe!

DRAIN – Eliminate Breeding Sites
Dump out standing water at least once a week from:
· Children’s toys & playsets
· Flower pots, plant saucers & bromeliads
· Birdbaths
· Buckets, tarps & tires
· Clogged gutters & downspouts
· Anything that can hold even a small amount of water

Pro Tip: Drill holes in containers that must stay outside so they drain naturally.

DRESS – Protect Yourself
Wear light-colored long sleeves and pants when outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk.

DEFEND – Use Repellent
Apply an EPA-approved mosquito repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.

Remember the 3 D’s of Mosquito Prevention!
Drain • Dress • Defend
