Join us this Saturday for a Community Open House at Station 9! 🚒

Tour the station, meet the crews who serve our community, and get an up-close look at our Special Operations Squad, ladder truck and other fire and rescue apparatus!

At 12:12 p.m., on Oct. 18, Charlotte County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on Joseph Street after a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the back porch and flames inside the home.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the side of the home. Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Responding units: Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 8, Engine 11, Engine 15, Rescue 1, Rescue 2, Rescue 14, Truck 2, Battalion 2 and Battalion 3.

Firefighting doesn’t stop at the shoreline!

Around 10:40 a.m. Thursday, our Marine Operations Team was dispatched as part of a Marine Emergency Response Team (MERT) response for a boat fire approximately four miles offshore, north of Boca Grande.

As Marine 2 approached the scene, crews spotted smoke from nearly a mile away. Upon arrival, they found fire and smoke coming from the rear of the vessel.

Thankfully, all three people and a dog aboard were safely evacuated with no injuries reported! 🐾

🚒🍕 Hot pizza, working smoke alarms and a side of fire safety!

We teamed up with our friends at Domino's Pizza for TWO days of surprise deliveries during Fire Prevention Month!

Our crews tagged along on a few pizza deliveries to check smoke alarms. Working alarms meant FREE pizza, and if they weren’t working, we helped get them back in action!

It’s important to test your smoke alarms monthly, replace them every 10 years and make sure you have one inside every bedroom, outside sleeping areas and on every level of your home.

SHELL-O! We’ve got a BIG one! 👀 🐢

Animal Control Officer Ackerman responded to Englewood for a rather unusual stray… a sulcata tortoise! 🐢 And let’s just say, this guy was NOT traveling light. 💪😂

After a little heavy lifting, our shelled friend was safely transported to the Animal Welfare League.

From domestic pets to livestock and wildlife, our Animal Control officers respond to all kinds of calls! You never know what kind of shell-prise awaits! 😂

Our Marine Operations team was out on the water supporting Englewood Beach Waterfest, helping keep participants safe while on the water!

Did you know that Charlotte County Fire & EMS has two marine response vessels, Marine 1 and Marine 2, that respond to emergencies across the 178 square miles of water in Charlotte County!

From boating emergencies to water rescues, our crews are ready to respond when they're needed most, on land or at sea! ⚓️🚒

There’s nothing quite like opening our doors to the community we serve! 🚒❤️

Neighbors of all ages joined us this morning for our Station 4 Open House! From touring the station and seeing where our crews eat, sleep and spend their shifts to getting an up-close look at our engine, rescue, ladder truck and Special Operations squad, there was plenty to explore!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions and spent part of their Saturday with us! We loved showing you a little behind the scenes of life at the fire station.

We rolled into school a little differently this morning! 🚒🚲🛴

For National Walk & Roll to School Day, our crews stopped by Port Charlotte High School, Port Charlotte Middle School, Neil Armstrong Elementary School and Liberty Patriot STARS to greet students walking, biking and rolling their way to class!

Crews handed out reflectors to help students stay seen and stay safe, whether they’re headed to school or cruising around the neighborhood. ✨

A few reminders for everyone sharing the road:
👀 Drivers, slow down and stay alert, especially near schools, crosswalks and neighborhoods.
🚲 Walkers and riders, make yourself visible, use designated crossings and always look both ways before entering the roadway.
📵 Phones down, eyes up. Distractions can wait.
