City Fire Truck 1, Engine 3, BC-1, and Charlotte County Fire/EMS Rescue 31 took advantage of the cooler morning hours for hands-on fireground training.

Today’s focus was on manned and unmanned master streams, using a deck gun and Blitz nozzle to flow high-volume water streams. Crews worked through setup, operation, and coordination of these appliances while putting a significant amount of water on target.

Another productive training session focused on the skills and equipment our crews rely on during large-scale fire operations.

🚒HUGE SHOUTOUT TO OUR BRAND NEW MEDICS! 🚑

City Fire is incredibly proud to recognize three of our very own who have recently reached a major milestone in their careers:

🔥 Firemedic RJ Gromalski
🔥 Firemedic Billy Ritter
🔥 Firemedic Brandon Corso

All three successfully completed a rigorous, year long paramedic program consisting of more than 300 hours of education and training, and have earned their National Registry certification. 🎓👏

Becoming a paramedic takes an incredible amount of dedication, sacrifice, and perseverance. Our firefighters not only committed countless hours to school, studying, testing, and training, but did so while continuing to work their regular shifts and serve our community.

The countless hours away from family, the late nights studying, and the commitment to becoming better providers have all paid off.

Please join us in congratulating Firemedics Gromalski, Ritter, and Corso on this outstanding accomplishment! We are proud to have you on the City Fire team and look forward to seeing the difference you will make in the lives of the people we serve.

🔥 Good News, Punta Gorda!
The City of Punta Gorda Burn Ban has been lifted.
Recent rainfall has helped improve local conditions, allowing the Burn Ban to be rescinded. Although conditions have improved, everyone is encouraged to continue practicing safe outdoor burning.
If you're planning to burn:
✔ Burn only natural vegetative yard debris from your property.
✔ Keep a water source nearby.
✔ Never leave a fire unattended.
✔ Avoid burning on windy days.
✔ Completely extinguish your fire before leaving.
Let's continue working together to help prevent wildfires and protect our community.

City Fire would like to send a huge shout out to our brother, Lieutenant Cody Smith of the Punta Gorda Police Department on earning his Advanced Open Water Dive Certification!

This achievement represents more than 30+ hours of dedicated training, commitment, and hard work.

We're also proud to recognize our own FireMedic/Divemaster Josh Roebuck, who trains both our firefighters and police officers, ensuring they have the skills, techniques, and knowledge needed to safely respond to emergencies in our city's waterways.

Congratulations, Lt. Smith, on this accomplishment!

🚨🎆🇺🇸The City of Punta Gorda Fire Department has been receiving numerous questions regarding the current burn ban and the use of fireworks.

Yes, the burn ban remains in effect. This means that the use of personal fireworks is prohibited.

The fireworks display taking place on July 4th is an approved and permitted event. The fireworks will be launched by a professional company from a barge in the harbor. City Fire will also have emergency personnel stationed both on land and on the water to ensure the safety of everyone attending.

We appreciate your cooperation and encourage everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly this Independence Day.
