State lawmakers just approved Governor DeSantis’s plan to lower property taxes for Florida homeowners. Voters will have the final say on the ballot this November. The proposal raises the homestead exemption from $50,000 to $150,000 next year, and then again to $250,000 in 2028. It would not apply to school district levies. The plan also lowers the cap to 5% on annual assessment increases for for non-homestead properties. The amendment will need at least 60% support from voters to pass.

We have a veteran family of six in need in North Fort Myers. They recently moved here and their car broke down so they only have the buses for transportation at this point. They need food of any kind. There are four children. If anyone would like to give monetary donations, we will buy some of the things they need. There will be a donation box at the post today through Sunday for any items you may be able to donate. Non groceries items: CAN BE USED ITEMS:
Toaster
Twin sheets
Clothes hangers
Kids DVDs
Kids detangling spray for hair
Hair ties or headbands
First aid kit or bandaids
Laundry soap/dryer sheets
Cleaning supplies
Dog food (golden retriever)
Cups or glasses
Pots or pans especially a cookie sheet
Any dish ware
Outdoor toys for 6 and 8 girls and 13 and 17 boys
Definitely more groceries. They are applying for food stamps but have not been able to get them yet.
