Keeping Punta Gorda Beautiful & Safe!

Our City of Punta Gorda Right of Way crew is out trimming back the magnificent banyan tree along W. Retta Esplanade.

This work helps keep the area clear and accessible for pedestrians while maintaining the health, beauty, and appearance of this incredible tree.

Above and Beyond

🧡 A simple act of kindness can make a big difference.

A Punta Gorda resident recently shared a letter with the local newspaper recognizing two members of our Sanitation Team, Kevin and Edward.

While out on their regular collection route, the resident witnessed these two employees take a moment to help a neighbor who is visually impaired with their trash cart. It was a simple gesture, but one that spoke volumes about the compassion and character of our employees.

Their actions are a wonderful reminder that Public Works is about more than collecting trash, maintaining streets, and providing services. It is also about people helping people and taking pride in serving our community.

👏 Thank you, Kevin and Edward, for going above and beyond and representing the City of Punta Gorda with kindness and compassion!

CANAL MAINTENANCE REQUESTS

Need to report a canal maintenance concern? The City of Punta Gorda makes it easy for residents to submit a request online.

Residents can visit the City of Punta Gorda website and select the “Request Canal Maintenance” form to submit their request.

📌 A few reminders:
• Requests are completed in the order they are received.
• Canal maintenance is weather-dependent, so some requests may take longer during periods of inclement weather.
• Seawall cracks are typically addressed during the low-tide months, when conditions are most suitable for this type of maintenance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as our Canal Maintenance crews work through requests to keep Punta Gorda’s waterways and seawalls maintained.

Our Sanitation Department provides appliance collection by special request. Appliances must be scheduled in advance and are collected on Fridays only.

🌿✨ A Fresh Look for City Hall! ✨🌿

Our Parks & Grounds crews have finished replacing the vegetation around the City Hall Council Chambers, adding the finishing touch to the project. The area is looking fresh, welcoming, and ready to shine!

As the City prepares to welcome meetings back to the Council Chambers, our Engineering team is also wrapping up the project soon.

It’s another great example of our Public Works teams working together to help keep our City looking its best.

Start your morning along the Harbor Walk, taking in the views of Charlotte Harbor and the Peace River. Continue your walk toward Laishley Marina, then make your way through Laishley Park and head toward Nesbit Street for a peaceful stop at Veterans Park. 🇺🇸 Make sure you stop at Marriage Point.

Veterans Park is a wonderful place to slow down, relax, and enjoy the outdoors, with plenty of shaded spaces to sit back, take a break, and take in the scenery.

Another Project Wrapping Up!

The City of Punta Gorda Council Chambers renovation is officially wrapping up—and what a transformation it has been!

The paint has dried, the floors have cured, the lighting has been replaced, the chairs are in place, and the landscaping has received a fresh look. 🌿✨

This project is another great example of what happens when our Public Works teams work together. From Engineering, Facilities and Parks & Grounds to the crews who helped bring the finishing touches together, it took teamwork, coordination, and plenty of hard work to get the project across the finish line.

We’re proud of our Public Works team and the work they do behind the scenes to keep our City facilities looking their best and ready to serve our community.
