The Purcell Animal Shelter and Purcell Police Department take animal abandonment and neglect very seriously.
If you abandon an animal within our community you may face animal cruelty charges.
If you witness someone abandoning an animal, please contact the Purcell Animal Shelter or the Purcell Police Department immediately. If possible, safely obtain a vehicle description and license plate.
Recently, we have had multiple dogs dumped within city limits, placing both the animals and motorists at risk. Several of these dogs have narrowly avoided being struck by vehicles.
At this time, the shelter is currently on intake hold due to overcrowding. We have no open kennels available and are housing dogs in temporary spaces, including bathrooms and shared kennels, until animals are reclaimed or adopted.
We believe the individual responsible for abandoning the tan dog maybe driving a silver or gray vehicle.
PLEASE HELP US PROTECT THESE ANIMALS AND HOLD THOSE RESPONSIBLE ACCOUNTABLE!
