Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day and during National Police Week, the men and women of the McClain County Sheriff's Office pause to honor the lives and sacrifices of the four individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the citizens of McClain County.

We remember:

• Sheriff Johnnie Ratliff — End of Watch: May 19, 1925
• Undersheriff Jason Daugherty — End of Watch: July 18, 1925
• Night Watchman Elijah Smith — End of Watch: June 27, 1937
• Captain Esau Green — End of Watch: June 2, 1993

These men answered the call to serve with courage, honor, and dedication. Though decades may separate their service, their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Their legacy lives on through every deputy who continues to wear the badge and serve this community.

We ask our community to join us today in remembering the fallen, honoring their families, and keeping all law enforcement officers in your thoughts and prayers.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” — John 15:13

On May 1st, Purcell Parks, along with Purcell Public Schools, hosted the 5th-grade classes at Purcell Lake for the 5th Grade Classroom, a day of education and exploration.

The McClain County Sheriff’s Office was proud to join several local, state, and federal agencies to share what we do with the next generation. Deputies Row and Bishop spent time with the students discussing:

• Forensics – The science behind solving mysteries.
• Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) – How we use drone technology.
• Environmental Crimes – The importance of cleanup and protecting our land.

Thank you to everyone who made this educational event possible!

SCAM ALERT!!!!!
The "St. Louis County Traffic Division" notice currently circulating in Oklahoma and other states is a confirmed scam.

Law enforcement agencies have issued urgent warnings regarding these fraudulent documents that often arrive via text message.

Key Red Flags Identified by Authorities:
• Conflicting Jurisdictions: The document may claim to be from the "State of Oklahoma" while listing a court address in Clayton, Missouri (St. Louis County). There is no St. Louis County in Oklahoma.
• Non-Existent Violations: Many notices claim the recipient owes money for "toll evasion," but there are no toll roads in Missouri.
• Method of Contact: Official courts will never contact you via text message or phone to demand immediate payment or send a summons.
• QR Code Payments: Scanning this code may lead to a site that steals your financial data or installs malware.

What to Do if You Receive This Notice:
1. Do NOT scan the QR code or click any links.
2. Do NOT provide personal or banking information.
3. Delete the message and block the sender's number.
4. Verify directly: If you are concerned about a real fine, contact your local court administration using a verified number from an official government website.

If you have already scanned the code and provided information or sent money, contact your local law enforcement agency immediately to file a report
