Fireman's Field has a new warning tracking coming this spring! Thanks to the new partnership between the Town and the Purcellville Canons, spearheaded by Town Manager Anthony "Tony" Sabio, the Canon's owner, Brett Fuller, and with a generous donation of materials and services by the E.E. Reed Construction Company, the old, dilapidated warning track will be replaced at no cost to the Town our the Canons.

Tony Sabio began a new relationship with the Canons by picking up the phone and starting direct talks with the Canon's owner, Brett Fuller last Fall. From there discussions between the Town Manager and the team owner developed into a full-fledged partnership between the team and the Town aimed at improving Fireman's Field and improving this historic town asset in ways that match the character of our town and helps the Cannons to continue to make Purcellville their home.

Early on, their discussions often centered on making improvements to the Field through donations. Fuller worked with his staff to find opportunities to enhance Fireman's Field at no cost to the town, and through the generosity of E.E. Reed the 2026 season of Cannons baseball is off to an amazing start at no cost to Purcellville and its residents. Hats off for this splendid cooperation between the Town and the Cannons!

UPDATE!-Boil Water Advisory Lifted

PURCELLVILLE, Va. (October 31, 2025) - As of 6:28 PM the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for the Town of Purcellville. The Advisory was originally issued on October 29, 2025, following a service interruption and loss of water pressure affecting Town water customers due to a broken pipe on the main service line into Town.
A series of bacteriological samples were collected and analyzed by a state-certified lab. All results confirmed the absence of both total coliform and E. coli bacteria in the affected area. With testing complete and system flushing performed, residents and business owners may now safely resume normal use of their tap water. There are no additional steps needed; water is ready for consumption and everyday use.

The Boil Water notice *may* be lifted at 1PM on Friday based on the following:

Virginia's Dept. of Health requires multiple clean samples before they will authorize lifting a boil water notice.

One sample was sent very early this morning and VDH's response is expected by 5PM today. A second sample will go out for testing and confirmation of results immediately.

Purcellville's Director of Public Works is working closely with the regional VHD engineer to compress the testing and approval timeline.

Delegate Higgins contacted the Governor's office. The Governor's office is supporting Purcellville's recovery effort by making certain that enough local help was available to repair the broken water main, and by requesting that VDH expedite their normal turn-around on testing through coordination with VDH's testing lab. Without their support, the boil water ban would have been extended by at least one day.

We have a first-rate public works team and with the assistance of leadership in the Commonwealth, we will get this problem resolved as quickly, and with full attention to public health as possible.

The Town's Boil Water alert is still in place as of 10AM this morning. Samples from the now-repressurized system are being processed for delivery to the VA Dept. of Health. There will be another report on the health status of the town's water supply by noon, today.

They are hopeful that they can deliver a sample of water for testing this evening. Town staff are confirming with the Virginia Department of Health the number of samples that must be taken and the interval between samplings before the boil water advisory can be lifted.

News Release - Boil Water Advisory Update

PURCELLVILLE, Va. (October 29, 2025, 6:45 PM) – Staff continues to work on replacing a section of 12” broken water main on Hillsboro Road. The work is expected to continue into Friday, October 31. The Boil Water Advisory remains in effect. Failure to follow this advisory could result in stomach or intestinal illness.

This water main is a primary supply line for the town, and staff are working closely with the Virginia Dept. of Health to ensure all safety and compliance measures are followed throughout the repair process. Residents can be assured that the water will be thoroughly tested and confirmed safe before the Boil Water Advisory is lifted.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this essential repair.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, beverage and food preparation, and making ice until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Boiling is the preferred method to ensure that the tap water is safe to drink. Bring all tap water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or used bottled water.

If you cannot boil your tap water an alternative method of purification for residents that do not have gas or electricity available is to use liquid household bleach to disinfect the water. The bleach product should be recently purchased, free of additives and scents and should contain a hypochlorite solution of at least 5.25%. Public health officials recommend adding 8 drops of bleach (about ¼ teaspoon) to each gallon of water. The water should be stirred and allowed to stand for at least 30 minutes before use. Water purification tablets may also be used by following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Once the boil water advisory has been lifted, residents will be notified through the same methods of communication used to notify of the advisory.
