Our main job is to enforce Municipal Ordinances, and State Criminal Laws, investigate crimes, and assist the citizens of our community.

NOTICE ABOUT FIREWORKS:

Fireworks will go on sale June 20, 2026.

The Purdy City Council has agreed to allow fireworks to be discharged from Friday June 26th-Sunday July 5th, ONLY between the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 11:00 P.M.

Discharging fireworks in a reckless, or dangerous manner will result in a citation being issued, and the fireworks being seized.
All children must be supervised by an adult, while discharging fireworks.

Please, DO NOT discharge any fireworks on any city owned property, which includes the city park, and the city hall parking lot.
If you discharge fireworks on a street, please pick up the debris, and dispose of it in a trash receptacle.

Always make sure that the firework is completely out before disposing it; we have had trash cans catch on fire in previous years, due to fireworks still smoldering.

Calls for service for the month of April 2026:

4-02-26:
Chief Lowe, following up on a complaint, stopped an ATV with two juveniles riding it near 4th and Jefferson Street.
They were informed that ATV's were not to be operated on city streets, and to take it back home and park it.

4-04-26:
The Barry County Sheriff's Department responded to the intersection of highway 37 and Highway B, for a person lying in the roadway.
It was determined that the subject was having mental health issues.
They were arrested on a 96-hour hold. and was transported to a Joplin hospital for a mental health evaluation.

4-06-26:
Chief Lowe responded to 702 Washington Street, for a peace disturbance complaint.
The caller reported that the residents had their TV turned up too loud.
The TV was turned off.
No charges were filed.

4-07-26:
Chief Lowe was notified of a possibly intoxicated driver, driving North bound on Highway 37 from Butterfield.
The vehicle was reportedly swerving into oncoming traffic.
The vehicle passed through town before Chief Lowe could get to the highway to intercept the vehicle.
The vehicle continued on, North bound, striking mail boxes and guardrails.
Chief Lowe continued on, North bound in an effort to overtake the vehicle, as no other officers were in the area.
The Monett Police Department was able to stop the vehicle just inside of their South city limits.
It was discovered that the driver was not intoxicated, but falling asleep at the wheel, after working a graveyard shift in Arkansas.

4-10-26:
Chief Lowe responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 37, South of R&M Industries.
The accident occurred when a North bound vehicle attempted to pass two North bound tractor trailers on a curve.
The vehicle hydroplaned sideways into a South bound SUV before running off of the roadway, down an embankment, and through a barbed wire fence.
Tow people in the North bound vehicle were killed, and two people in the South bound vehicle had to be extricated from the wrecked vehicle, and suffered severe injuries.
Highway 37 was completely closed to traffic for several hours, while the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted the investigation.
Traffic was rerouted from Highway 37, down Business 37/ Farm Road 1080.

4-15-26:
The Sheriff's Department responded to 105 4th Street, for a prowler call.
Nothing was found.

4-16-26:
Chief Lowe went to 605 Commercial Street with an officer from the Cassville Police Department to investigate an incident involving threats of violence.
A male juvenile had allegedly posted photos on social media of him holding a firearm, and making threats.
The gun was later recovered and was determined to be a pellet gun.

The Sheriff's Department responded to 607 Commercial Street for a physical domestic disturbance.

The Sheriff's Department responded at 9:00 p.m. to an assault that had reportedly occurred behind the recycling center on Gabby Gibbons Drive.
A juvenile reported that he had been physically assaulted by another male juvenile, who had then stole his money, and shoes.
Investigation is continuing.

4-17-26:
Chief Lowe, while on patrol, located a suspect with a Felony warrant, leaving from a residence at 403 High Drive.
Hank Lee Winsea of Purdy was arrested on the no bond warrant for Probation Violation, and was transported to the Barry County Jail.

4-20-26:
Chief Lowe responded to 809 N. Business 37, for a dog complaint.
The complainant was upset because the neighbor across the street at 7926 Farm Road 2070 keeps allowing his dogs to run loose, and get out into the roadway.
Two of the dogs have already been struck by vehicles, and killed.
The owner of the dogs lives just outside of the Purdy city limits.

4-21-26:
Chief Lowe went to 7926 Farm Road 2070 and spoke with the resident about his dogs running loose, and getting into the roadway.
He stated that he did not have any dogs, and that people continue to dump stray dogs in his yard.

Chief Lowe responded to 201 S. Caledonia Street, for a runaway juvenile.
The caller reported that his daughter had run away, and he had found her at this residence, however, she was refusing to leave.
Chief Lowe contacted the juvenile female, who was uncooperative, and refused to leave the residence.
After consulting with the Juvenile Office, the father attempted to physically remove his daughter from the residence.
She was eventually removed and placed into the custody of her father.

4-22-26:
The Sheriff's Department responded to 206 S. Business 37, to take a stolen vehicle report.
A 1994 Mitsubishi 3000 GT that had been sitting in the yard inoperable for sometime, had been stolen.
The vehicle was apparently loaded onto a trailer and taken.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Eagle Rock Missouri.
Investigation is continuing.

4-23-26:
Chief Lowe responded to Autumn Woods Apartments, 200 S. Business 37 for a person attempting su***de.
The subject was transported by ambulance to a Springfield hospital, after consuming large quantities of alcohol.

4-28-26:
The Sheriff's Department responded to the Purdy Super Stop at 3:26 A.M. for an alarm.
Two suspects wearing ski masks, and dressed in black attempted to gain entry into the store through the rear door, causing extensive damage.
The suspects were not able to gain entry and fled on foot when the alarm sounded.
Restitution for damage is $2400.
Felony charges are pending.
Both suspects have now been identified.

4-29-26:
Chief Lowe responded to 702 Washington Street, Apt # 3 for a domestic disturbance.
A male suspect allegedly kicked open the locked front door to the apartment, but left before police arrived.
The complainant declined to press charges.

Chief Lowe responded to the school to assist the Division of Family Services with a child abuse investigation.
After investigating, the allegations were not substantiated.

4-30-26:
Chief Lowe responded to the softball field and recovered a vehicle that had been stolen out of Barry County.
The vehicle had been abandoned, however, a suspect was identified.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Northwest Arkansas
Southeast Kansas
Western Missouri
Northeast Oklahoma

* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 210 PM until
900 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5
inches in diameter possible
Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...At least isolated severe thunderstorms should further
develop across the region within a very unstable environment in the
presence of strong deep-layer winds.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles south
southwest of Chanute KS to 45 miles north northeast of Springfield
MO. For a complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch
outline update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU1).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

The vehicle has been recovered.

This red Mitsubishi 3000 was reported to have been stolen from an address on S. Business 37 In Purdy.

The car was inoperable, so the suspect (s) would have to had loaded it onto a trailer, or used a flatbed wrecker to haul it away.

If you have any information about this theft, please contact dispatch at (417) 847-4911, and they will pass on the information to investigators.

ATTENTION

Highway 37 is completely closed to traffic between Highway C/B and South Business 37/ Farm Road 1080, due to a serious traffic accident.

Traffic is being routed down Business 37, into Purdy, please use alternate routes.

Calls for service for March 2026:

3-02-26:
Chief Lowe responded to the school for a vehicle lockout.

3-04-26:
Chief Lowe went to 7926 Private Road 2071 to assist the Cassville Police Department, who was serving a no trespass order on an individual, prohibiting him from being on the Cassville School Campus.

3-06-26:
Chief Lowe went to 101 Lynn Lane for a civil standby.

Chief Lowe went to the Cedar Towers Apartments, 603 Monroe Street for a well being check.

3-09-26:
Chief Lowe responded to the FEMA building for a fire alarm.
All students were evacuated from the building.
It was determined that the alarm had been triggered by a power outage, and no fire existed.

3-10-26:
Chief Lowe responded to the Autumn Woods Apartments, 200 S. Business 37 for an attempted su***de.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a Springfield hospital.

3-17-26:
Chief Lowe responded to 105 4th Street for a vehicle lockout.

3-20-26:
Chief Lowe took a walk in at the police department, in reference to stealing.
The reporting party stated that her son had been arrested for DUI in Purdy.
Because he did not have his identification or work visa with him, he was placed on an ICE detainer, and was transported to the Greene County Jail in Springfield to await deportation.
She had then located an immigration attorney online, and had contacted them to help her son.
The alleged attorney requested that she send them money via Western Union to California and New York.
After wiring over $7,000, she determined that the link had sent her to a fraudulent website.
Case remains under investigation.

3-23-26:
Chief Lowe responded to 209 Edina Street for a complaint of dogs running at large.
One dog had slipped off its collar, and chain.
A warning was given to keep the dogs properly secured.

3-27-26:
The Sheriff's Department responded to a well being check on the 300 block of 5th Street, after two very young children were found walking down the street wrapped in a blanket, and unsupervised.

3-30-26:
The Sheriff's Department were dispatched to 400 Archibald Street for a well being check.
