Early Closure Notice

Out of an abundance of caution, all Lamar County Library System branches will close today at 5:00 p.m.

Although conditions in Lamar County seem stable, flooding continues to impact surrounding areas, and water levels remain a concern in several nearby communities. With additional rainfall possible this evening, we believe an early closure is the safest decision for our staff and patrons.

We encourage everyone to use caution while traveling and to avoid flooded roadways.

The Lamar County Community Shelter is open and remain open until the threat of severe weather is over.

The shelter is located at 105 Central Industrial Row in Purvis.

Due to the potential for heavy rain and localized flooding in our area, we are currently planning to open tomorrow at 11:00 AM.

This opening time is tentative and may change depending on weather conditions overnight and early morning. If flooding or unsafe travel conditions develop, we may need to delay opening or close for the day.

We will provide updates as early as possible tomorrow morning if anything changes. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe during the storm.
