Lamar County is hiring an I.T. Support Specialist (Public Safety) to help keep our local emergency and law enforcement technology running smoothly.

JOB OPENING: I.T. Support Specialist (Public Safety)

We are looking for a skilled tech professional to support the Sheriff’s Department, dispatchers, and Emergency Management staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical support to Sheriff’s Department personnel, dispatchers, Emergency Management staff, and authorized county users and devices:

- Computers, mobile devices, printers, and related equipment.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network resources.
- Support public safety applications including dispatch, records management, emergency notification, and related systems.
- Assist with patrol vehicle technology, surveillance systems, access control, digital evidence, and other specialized public safety technologies.
- Maintain networks, servers, cloud services, firewalls, VPNs, and related infrastructure.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, email access, and multifactor authentication.
- Monitor system performance, perform updates, maintain backups, and assist with disaster recovery planning.
- Protect sensitive and criminal justice information in accordance with applicable security requirements.

JOB OPENING: Shop Mechanic

Shop Mechanic responsibilities:

- Perform routine preventive maintenance on county vehicles and equipment (e.g., oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, tire inspections).
