Extrication Drill
Our members sharpened their life‑saving skills during a full‑scale vehicle extrication drill this month.

From stabilizing the vehicle to operating hydraulic tools, our firefighters trained on every step needed to safely remove trapped occupants during an emergency.

Hands‑on training like this keeps the members ready for any situation and ensures we can provide the fastest, safest response for our community.
Great work by everyone who participated.

This morning at approximately 1:00 AM, the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle fire on Canopus Hollow Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately, all occupants had safely exited the vehicle prior to our arrival.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and extinguished the blaze without incident. There were no injuries to the vehicle’s occupants or responding personnel.

We are grateful for a safe outcome and remind everyone that if your vehicle catches fire, pull over as safely as possible, exit immediately, move a safe distance away, and call 911.
