Puyallup/Sumner Chamber of Commerce Linking business to communities!
(27)

The Puyallup Sumner Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting sustained economic growth and development of local businesses in order to benefit the communities we serve. Our organization includes a year-round staff and a working Board of Directors. We stand together to Grow More, by creating a healthy business environment through arming local businesses with resources and support; Know More, through programming and events designed to foster collaboration and engagement within a vibrant community; and Influence More, through solid representation of business advocacy within the legislative realm of Puyallup, Sumner, South Hill, and Pierce County.

Our CHIP IN WITH THE CHAMBER program worked with Nothing Bundt Cakes to deliver bundtlets to the Puyallup Food Bank this week. The staff and volunteers are working extremely hard to serve this community, last month they served over 7,000 individuals. Executive Director, Jim and his team are so grateful Safeway has let them move into their old space so they can serve more families in need.

When you chip in, 100% of your donations will go toward the two initiatives: Sponsoring meals for local heroes and also helping small businesses in need with PPE and other supplies they will need to open safely.
If you're able, we invite you to chip in at puyallupsumnerchamber.com/chip-in

I didn’t have any more to give. I was frustrated, had a short fuse, and got to the place where I just couldn't see the point anymore. I was going numb.
That's when I knew I had to stop, look around and something had to change.⁣

Maybe you're like I was. You want to be there for everyone and everything in your life. There’s just one small hiccup that’s been holding you back.

You are completely tapped out. Dry. Your cup is EMPTY! What if I told you it doesn't have to be that way.⁣

You see, most of us think we have to wait until the time is right, or when things slow down, or when the kids go back to school, THEN you'll have time to take care of yourself. But the truth is this. “THEN” is a moving target. As you move forward, “THEN” moves farther away.

Through my own empty cup crisis, I was able to discover principles and practices that have allowed me to stay full and healthy every day. I've put all that I've learned into a course that has been helping many others find the fullness and energy that they need for themselves and those around them.

Are you ready to set aside a bit of "me" time and focus on filling your own cup so you can fill into others?⁣

Puyallup Farmers Market will be hosting a trial market this Saturday from 9am-2pm! Please read the guidelines below.

Puyallup Farmers Market will be hosting a trial market this Saturday from 9am-2pm! Please read the guidelines below.

Please read the entirety of this post.

This Saturday we are going to host a trial market. In accordance with local regulations and health codes, we will be allowing no more than 60 vendors to come and sell essential produce and food. On May 9th from 9am to 2pm, our new adjusted market will be at the South Hill Mall (in the Southwest parking lot by the former Sears location).

This new location will allow us to have appropriate space for social distancing. We have been authorized for only ONE weekend at this time and it will be a very different market from what you might be accustomed to. The most important aspect of this market is the safety and health of all involved. All of us at the market are asking you wonderful people to come and shop but keep social distancing and community health as a priority on Saturday.

Customers will be asked to limit their time at the market. We cannot have large crowds at this market so please come in, do your shopping, and allow others to come after. It is our intention to keep you updated on our social media channels throughout the run of the day so that you can see the best times to arrive. You will want to come and shop as individuals and not as families. We will have new safety measures in place and strict social distancing tools to ensure everyone’s health and safety. We really want to be able to continue our market through the year so we need your help in adhering to these new regulations.

While we are thrilled to be able to offer healthy, fresh, and local food to our community, our equally strong commitment is to everyones' health. Stay tuned to the page and join us this Saturday for our one day farmers market event.

Also please be sure to wear a mask or something that covers your nose and mouth when you attend the market. We truly appreciate your help and support.

The Puyallup Food Bank needs our help!
05/04/2020

The Puyallup Food Bank needs our help!

The Puyallup Food Bank is calling all neighbors in our community who love to recycle to help us make a difference during this time of need.

If you have been wondering how you can help the Puyallup Food Bank, but are unable to make a monetary or food donation, there is still a way to help.

Have old plastic grocery bags lying around? You know, the ones shoved into other grocery bags, under your sink (don’t worry everyone does it) We even take paper bags!

It’s that easy to help. Simply bring your plastic/paper bags to 1405 East Main Puyallup, WA 98372 (our temporary new home) Monday-Friday between 9am-3pm.

Please also consider liking and sharing this post. Financial contributions can be made by clicking the link below. Thank you for your support and help!

Thank you for the visual Chris Gildon.

Here is an updated graphic showing which counties were granted the ability to request a variance to the 4 phase recovery plan. The numbers are from the date of the announcement.

While I'm glad he is taking my proposal for a test drive, I am puzzled why he did not include Clallum, Pacific, San Juan, and Whitman at a minimum. They all had zero deaths and fewer cases than Jefferson- which made the list.

Regardless, it is some progress and I will be closely watching how long he takes to process each request as well as if he sets the bar so high it is virtually unattainable.

Stay tuned!

UPDATE May 4- eligible counties must have a population below 75,000, have had no new cases in three weeks, have a plan approved by the county commission as well as the state Department of Health to get the variance.

Join us in supporting the Puyallup e-book fundraiser, created by Nancy and Julia Glen. They wrote a children’s book giving the history of Puyallup, “Puyallup Adventures.” There is a free e-book version on their website with a donate button for those who wish to contribute. Due to the recent health crisis, they saw a great need to provide fun, positive literature to keep spirits up. They also thought it would be a great way to raise funds for those struggling at this time in our community. 100% of the proceeds will go to our Puyallup community. Inslee is allowing some construction projects to reopen. This is a step in the right direction. Other industries who wish to reopen need to put together their plans to reopen safely with appropriate safety measures in place that protect workers and customers. If you are not working with an industry association, I encourage you to reach out to AWB or NFIB even if you are not already a member.
