Riverside Fire & Rescue

Riverside Fire & Rescue is a combination fire district proudly serving the citizens of Pierce County Fire District 14.

Established in 1952 as Pierce County Fire District #14, Riverside Fire & Rescue provides emergency services to the citizens, businesses and visitors of the lower Puyallup river valley, and the Puyallup tribal reservation area. Riverside Fire & Rescue provides Fire, EMS, Rescue, Hazardous Materials investigation services out of station 74, utilizing a full time fire chief, and 40 dedicated voluntee

r firefighters. Our primary response area includes 4.5 miles of SR-167 (river road) from the city limits of Puyallup to the city limits of Tacoma on the north. Pioneer Way E from Puyallup to Tacoma on the south. Our firefighters also protect the Puyallup tribal schools Chief Leschi elementary, middle and high school.

Our crew is on the ground at the Lyons Ferry Fire in Franklin County, part of Pierce County’s new “Rogue 6” volunteer wildland team.

Brush 74 rolled out alongside Buckley Fire, joining Brush 34 and crews from across South Puget Sound as part of Strike Team 9.

The academy tests more than the body. It tests discipline, teamwork, and resolve. Five recruits proved they have all three. Congratulations to FF Brooks, FF Capili, FF Marshall, FF Devine, and FF McInerny on graduating from Buckley Fire Academy class 2026-01. FF Devine earned Chief’s Company along the way. We’re proud to welcome them as firefighters, ready to serve alongside us on every call.

Join us for an incredible weekend of dancing, drumming, food, art, and cultural celebration as the Puyallup Tribe welcomes visitors from near and far. Whether you’ve attended a powwow before or are experiencing one for the first time, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and enjoy the rich traditions and culture of the Puyallup people.

Last Friday, Riverside Fire & Rescue personnel participated in Scenes of Violence training alongside our partners from the , led by the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management. As our region prepares for upcoming World Cup events and other large gatherings, this training helps ensure first responders can work together effectively during active shooter incidents and other acts of violence while continuing to provide lifesaving care.

A huge thank you to the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management for securing grant funding that provided Riverside with five ballistic vests, five sets of ballistic plates, five tactical helmets, and specialized medical response bags. This investment in training and equipment helps keep our responders prepared, protected, and ready to serve our community when it matters most.

& responded with this afternoon to a fully engulfed car fire along highway 167. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Yesterday crews from Riverside Fire & Rescue responded to an RV fire in district. Thanks to a quick knockdown by responding crews, the fire was contained before it could significantly impact neighboring homes. The RV was a total loss, but damage to surrounding properties was kept minor and, most importantly, there were no reported injuries.

We also want to thank our friends at for the quick response and for coming down the hill to assist. We appreciate the teamwork and support.

🚒 Last night just after 7 PM, Riverside crews were dispatched to a working fire off River Road. Contents inside a connex were reported on fire upon arrival, no occupants were inside. With mutual aid support from our friends at Central Pierce Fire & Rescue, the fire was knocked down quickly. No injuries were reported and all units were back in service by 9 PM. Thank you to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue for the assist! 🙏
