From literacy lessons to hands-on STEAM activities, students in the Summer Learning Program, hosted at Firgrove Elementary, spent July learning, creating, and exploring together!

Throughout the four-week program, students strengthened reading and writing skills while taking part in collaborative projects, problem-solving activities, and creative exploration. Along the way, they built confidence, strengthened important skills, and continued learning throughout the summer in preparation for the school year ahead.

A big thank you to the educators, support staff, and families whose partnership helped make Summer Learning a fun and engaging experience for our students!

Our congratulations to Puyallup High School's FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) students for their outstanding performance at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. this past July!

Students showcased their leadership, service, and career-ready skills through national STAR Events competition.

Noor Albermany earned a Silver Award in Sports Nutrition, and Arri Lugod and Alex Pheakday earned a Gold Award, the highest possible recognition, for their service project benefiting the PHS Food Pantry.

We are proud of these students for their hard work, leadership, and outstanding representation of Puyallup High School and our district at the national level.

📍 : Zeiger Elementary School

A love of reading was celebrated throughout Zeiger Elementary during Read Across America Week this spring, with every student receiving a book of their own to take home and enjoy.

Courtesy of the Zeiger PTA, students selected a book to keep, while an additional copy was provided to each classroom so students and teachers could enjoy the stories together. However, the opportunity to discover a new favorite book doesn't end there!

Also this spring, Zeiger grandparent Noel Murphy built an outdoor library for the school and surrounding community, creating a place where anyone can stop by, borrow a book, or donate one for someone else to enjoy.

"The Zeiger Bridge" is one more way the Zeiger community is helping create a love of reading by ensuring stories can be shared long after the school day ends.

From Aylen Junior High to Zeiger Elementary, and everywhere in between, we have spent the summer celebrating the activities, traditions, achievements, and everyday moments that make each of our schools unique.

Today, we close out with Zeiger reminding us that across our schools, there are always more stories waiting to be discovered.

📍 : Woodland Elementary

When students at Woodland Elementary began Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) testing this spring, they found plenty of positive messages waiting for them around campus.

Colorful posters and encouraging signs reminded students to believe in themselves, stay confident, and simply do their best as they worked their way through testing.

"Eat This Test: Leave No Crumbs"
"It's Testing Week ... Imma Let You Cook!"
"Dunk This Test Like LeBron James"

Behind each message were staff members and others in the school community finding creative ways to make testing days feel a little less stressful and a lot more supportive.

Whether a schoolwide celebration or encouraging words posted in a hallway, sometimes the smallest gestures can make all the difference in how a student starts and finishes their day.

📍 : Wildwood Elementary

This past spring, Wildwood Elementary's Drama Club presented two performances of "The Candy Kingdom," a colorful adventure that took audiences through locations such as Peppermint Acres, Lollipop Forest, Bubblegum Pass, and other sweet stops along the way.

The story follows the Candy Apple family, who find themselves in a sticky situation... they have too much taffy to belong in Fruitopia and too much fruit to make the approved candy list in Candy Kingdom. With the help of Jawbreaker and Lifesaver, the family sets out on a journey to petition King and Queen Candybar for a place to call home, while also uncovering a plot by the villainous Baron Von Licorice to take over the kingdom.

With two performances, one during the school day and one in the evening, students in the Drama Club participated fully in the staging of this production, learning about lighting, blocking, performance, and all the behind-the-scenes teamwork required to put on a full-scale school production.
