South Prairie Creek is stunning during the spring and summer bloom, and we need your help to make sure it stays that way! Just 25 minutes south of Puyallup is a ghibli-esque creek that we are restoring for local salmon populations. This weekend we'll mulch some of our new planted trees to make sure they can survive the summer.

Saturday, June 20
9 AM - 12 PM
Orting, WA (Exact location provided on registration)

Mulching helps preserve water for plants in the summer heat, provides a source of organic matter, suppresses w**d growth, and offers insects a home. No experience required, we provide all tools!

We loved seeing the PCD family at this year's Community Celebration! Every year we get to celebrate the partners and volunteers that make PCD's work possible. This year we honored 10 incredible individuals and organizations, hosted a plant swap, painted fish print shirts, and showed off some of our accomplishments from the past year.

Most importantly we spent time with YOU, our wonderful community.

Whether you've given us 1 volunteer hour or 100, whether you're starting your first project with us or you've been a lifelong conservation practice implementer, we are only what we are because of the commitment Pierce County shows for conservation. We take our responsiblity to our community seriously, and promise to celebrate our community now and every day!

We can't wait to see what this year has in store for us. Sign up for our monthly newsletter if you want to stay on top of what crazy hijinks and major milestones we hit next!

Shore Friendly Pierce recently hosted a workshop to showcase the completion of a shoreline armor removal project. Over 750 feet of armor was removed, opening the shore up to natural function.

This project would not have been possible if it were not for the outstanding work that the Great Peninsula Conservancy partnered with landowners, Pam Boyle and Rocky Johnson, to complete.

Private landowners hold the key to a large percentage of shoreline restoration work with conservation partnerships like this one!

Interested in learning more about the Shore Friendly Pierce program and the work that goes into protecting our shores? We posted a blog article outlining the project's completion which you can find via the link: https://piercecd.org/Blog.aspx?IID=532

PCD provides all necessary tools and training, and welcomes folks of all ages to participate in these family-friendly work parties. So, if you've been curious about habitat stewardship, want to learn more about native plants 🌿 and animals, and/or are looking for a low-commitment, outdoorsy volunteer opportunity, join one of our upcoming events!

Check out PCD's new manure spreader rental delivery and pickup program!

With spring in full swing, PCD’s Farm Team has rewired our manure spreader rental program – increasing access to land stewards across the county. From April 1st to September 31st, a PCD farm planner will deliver your manure spreader rental at no extra cost! No need to meet us at our Puyallup office, we will come to you with boots on the ground, offering free technical service alongside delivery of either our 1/2 cubic yard or 2 cubic yard capacity manure spreader.
To support your efforts, and to ensure proper application rates while preventing runoff/nutrient leaching, we require renters to have had a recent soil test and/or allow time for a nutrient management consultation upon spreader delivery. Have questions? Reach out to your area farm planner to learn more.
To reserve either manure spreader, complete an Equipment Request Form on our website: https://zurl.co/z7FPe
